It's a justified interference call, but it wasn't anything more. It's not an intentional cheapshot, it's shoulder to shoulder, and there isn't any contact to the head.
Another thing is that the whistle should be blown when the puck is out of play, it hadn't been blown yet and by Makar's body language, he thinks McCann has the puck.
I think this is very borderline, but it really isn't the cheapshot that people are acting like it is, it looks to me like a hockey play with a very unfortunate result.
