For those saying Philadelphia is poor management, we're tanking. No point in a 7 mil center on a tank. The trade also got back actual (granted minor) assests in return over nothing. Flyers now have 10 mil in space before Ellis goes LTIR it then goes to 16 mil in cap space. If one or two more Flyers leave like Laughton or Sanheim that goes even higher, and then you capitalize on it by taking awful contracts PLUS high draft picks at TDL. Flyers finally doing what they should've done in 2019.
Possibly the Black Hawks will compete for a playoff spot. They could be close.

As i said, the cap has completely ruined this sport. You can't compete without overpaying your talent and you can't get better by trading your talent. The only way to win long term is to first tank.

Anyone who thought Chicago would have trouble reaching the cap floor should not be allowed to talk about hockey again. All they needed to do was take on ONE bad contract to get there AND they would have gotten assets in return. Now they have overpaid Foligno, likely costing them a 4th round pick they could have otherwise gotten.

Just a hint to all NHL General Managers out there. If your secretary calls your office and says “Doug Armstrong of St. Louis is on line 2” ……. DO NOT answer that call. I’m a huge Blues fan and it seems almost every time DA makes a deal St. Louis wins that deal. Sure there have been a few loser deals ( Letting Petrangelo go to free agency mainly ). DA knows how to negotiate. No doubt. Look … we all know Hayes is not McDavid. But for 3.5 mil per year he will help St. Louis immediately. Who knows what DA has up his sleeve. We are less than 24 hours away for the draft and DA has three picks. He will absolute,y trade one or both of those late round picks. The only question is what team is going to get hosed ? Kevin Hayes was a victim of a culture overhaul. He was their best player but probably wouldn’t buy into the culture they wanted to change so they gave him the boot

I could have gone to Google to learn about the Hayes trade faster; but I watched your entire video so I could hear your take.
I think Doug Armstrong did a heck of a job with this trade. I think Kevin Hayes fills a need for the Blues because the Blues didn't have much size up front last year and Hayes will help them in that department. Getting him and having the Flyers retaining 50% of his salary for the next 3 years and only having to give up a 6th, is quite a deal for the Blues, I feel.
Question if Boston is an original 6 team isn’t every team 100 years old next year ???

this move didn't need it's own video, and I appreciate that. and if they want to get out of these Fletcher deals for Risto and Sanheim, there's gonna be more of these kind of moves. then there's the Ellis contract and what to do with that. I guess I can be happy for STL to think this is a steal for a mid 6 forward in his 30s. 50 points last year, sure. -22 in plus/minus if you're into that sort of thing.

Boston needs cap space (reason for Hall deal). The Flyers don't. They are rebuilding. Why give away a good player and keep paying him half his salary for nothing back? They can't be considering getting a big name in free agency?

As a hawks fan, I’m loving how Kyle Davidson is playing this. He was dealt a steaming pile of garbage and is playing it as well as you could hope. Bringing in some experienced players to support bedard is huge.
Doug Armstrong is unarguably one of the best GMs in the entire league. ✔️
Quite happy with the Foligno contact. I hope he does well for us next season.
