I honestly believe the hitting will increase I also think 10 years from now we will be looking at granato the same way the lighting look at Jon copper
I am SOOOO looking forward to this season. I know I was disappointed w/ Greenway until I heard he was hurt.. I know I wouldn’t be banging with an injury either.. (not to mention he was also sitting out many games too). I’m not as worried about the goalie as you are…. because I think Levi is much stronger than you give him credit for. I still remember the Sabres starting their 18year old draft pick who went on to win the Vezina and the calder as a 18 year old goalie.. (sadly, his head got too big for his mask.. and he became our version of Jack Parkman (Movie: Major League II). Levi is much older than that and he also has the mindset that could allow him to play 40-50 games this year. Can he stay healthy? That goes for any player in any sport. Injuries come when they come.. some years often and others not at all.. Even Dom Hasek had a season where his Groin kept him out and he was the most upset of everyone… I do hope though, that they move on from Olofsson and Jokiharu… Need to move them and if they get another netminder so the better.. We clearly have access to plenty of forwards and D-Men at the moment.. Goalies.. They signed a few guys just for depth in Rochester and Jacksonville.. so another won’t hurt any.. and that’s not even counting the kid we drafted this year (who’ll still be in Jrs.) and the kid we drafted last season. (Leinonen).. UPL shows flashes of being a solid NHL netminder.. then 2 days later might as well be on the bench with an empty net.. But if Levi gets 40-50 starts.. he’ll be on the bench quite a bit.. and I’ve heard conflicting info about if he’s waivers exempt or not.. if he is.. Abuse Comrie until he’s on IR the call him up and you limit his damage.. But we’ll have to see.. my feeling is.. the world is not going to give up a goalie even as good as UPL unless we give up way too much (like a first rounder, UPL and maybe someone else.).. if that’s the case, well.. UPL is the lesser of the evils.. my preferred goalie for Levi’s backup is Varlamov of the Isles.. He’s their backup and I’ve seen him when he was in Colorado (when I lived there) and he was pretty damn good. But we’ll have to see.. I think once we get to Sept. the trade wires will start to go off..
I’m pretty sure that Clifton and Johnson’s hits alone will get us out of the basement. And if Greenway starts hitting like we hope, I could see us in the middle of the league.
I think the only reason why we still have Victor is because of the injury to Quinn and focusing on Greenway I mean how many games did he even play with us 10 15 like you said he was hurt too he needs a much bigger sample size before we can write him off
Instead of having yet another year of experimenting with projects like Greenway I would rather have them go for a cup with a proven power forward. If Greenway gets more icetime than our drafted guys I’ll flip my Lid.
Definitely think Greenway was shocked to be traded here and had trouble getting comfortable. I predict we'll see a whole different player come October…
I know i sound like a broken record but Peca would get Greenway to be more physical. That being said with Greenway being 100 % healthy i think Greenway will be more physical and him on a line with Middelstadt and Olofsson or Kullich ,(is there an up incoming olofsson trade?) Will make a solid 3rd line.
The additions alone of Clifton and Johnson will make us better defensively and more physical aka we wont finish last in hits next season .
Thanks for all your videos Wayne!
If Buffalo makes the playoffs this season, I think that Granato would deserve to win the coach of the year, and Adams win the GM of the year. It would be awards 3 years in the making.
I still want Kolesar from Vegas…jost or girgs could either be replaced by him
Greenway definetly showed flashes of being good last year. Definetly gonna be interesting to see. Too early to judge
Greenway has played 5 full seasons in the NHL and his best goal scoring season was 12 goals. It would be great if he were to score 25 this season, but I'm not counting on it.
If these young men start hitting more they better be ready to drop the gloves as well!
