If people want the goalie to be fair play for checking… which I agree with… the NHL needs to create a no-hit zone involving the crease and a reasonable radius outside the crease in front of the goal line.

i think the league should install a new penalty called "playing hockey in the general vicinity of mike smith". minimum penalty time: 5 minutes, likely multiple game suspension. if you're gonna have the nerve to actually do it & incur these penalties, make sure you get your money's worth. –signed, a blackhawks fan.

The nhl should make a rule that if the goalie has the puck outside the crease you should be able to hit him like any other player
