Karlson had more points than the leafs bottom six forwards combined. Karlson and 25% of his salary for Reilly and Robertson and a draft pick. Karlson would take a bit of pressure of the core 4 to score every game.
Please trade karl for nylander. Then the sharks can either sign long term or trade to another playoff team come trade deadline

Erik can eat his own salary. He ain't worth what he's paid anyway and his big contract screwed the sharks right out of contention.
I am a leafs fan. But i dont see karlsson going to the leafs and the leafs need a defensive defenseman not a offensive defenseman. Also leafs have a 8 million over the cap. Bring in a 11 million dollar player wouldn't really help the leafs cap and would San Jose take at least 30% or 40% of karlsson's 11 million dollar contract? dont think they plan on doing it. I would also think it make it harder for Brand and his other helpers to bring the cap space to positive instead of negative. you'd also have to find another forward to take over the nylender spot. It's just my opinion but it would be kind of cool to see Karlsson in a white and blue jersey, but I don't see it.
Funny to me he can't play defense…seems to me he's had a pretty damn good career as a defenseman in this league!

Karlsson to the Leafs makes zero sense unless your the Sharks.
I don't know, I wonder if Treliving is trying to throw a monkey wrench in the spokes of Kyle Dubas' Pens?
I could see Dubas really overpaying to keep his former team from acquiring Karlsson so I wonder if the Leafs and the Sharks are playing 3D chess to drive up the price because logically it makes zero sense if you are the Leafs.

Karlsson for Nylander makes sense. Sharks would likely need to retain a lot less than a trade with the Penguins.
I enjoy this podcast but in all honesty the players he talks about rarely land where he suspects they will go.
Sharks do have more leverage than the Sens did with Debrincat.. they won't lose him for nothing after this season if they don't make a trade.. Karlsson wouldn't like it, but they could wait until the deadline or even next summer to get the return they want.. but then again, his value is at an all-time high right now. If Karlsson starts the season in San Jose and doesn't perform as well as last year, they risk his value going down
I have a freind who was a hard-core sens fan but he hated Karlsson so much he gave up on them and became a leafs fan.. hes gunna be so mad if the leafs trade for Karlsson 😂

The Leafs should do this deal, I like Karlson, his offence is a good defence. Then add a guy like Dumba as well. The cap is hard to work around. Nylander is very good but not at $10 million per. The Sharks can maximize the return by retaining salary.
What attribute gaps that Leafs have identified as gaps within their team – can Karlsson provide? Wasn’t Leafs main playoff issue – that Leafs core 4 got shut down – likely as a result that the two Leaf core 4 smallish wingers just do not thrive in playoff elimination games with playoff officiating, so they just don’t score when they are paid high salaries to do so in all these playoff elimination games – thus these guys continue to lose (mainly Marner anyway) .
Who wants to pay him, potentially waste their youth and future picks? He is not physical enough for playoff battles, bringing an insufficient 'D' game. Seattle could perhaps, as the have plenty of youngsters, and good D-D men like Larsen to partner/cover for him.

The only way that the Leafs would trade for Karlsson is if San Jose was going to retain half of Karlsson's salary and the Leaf's were planning from the beginning to play Karlsson as a winger.
This would be catastrophic for the leafs Eric Carlson does not play defense straight up him winning the Norris. This year was a fucking joke. He is not a defenseman, and that’s what the leafs need is an actual defenseman aooooooo
I’ve seen some interesting proposals, as a sharks fan I liked the Seattle proposal I saw the most. Different from Devrincat because he is signed and the sharks don’t have to trade him.
The penguins trade is terrible. Why retain on Karlsson to get Petry at a high cap plus retention so your basically paying Petry the same as Pittsburg is paying Karlsson. Karlsson > Petry
