No I don't think Shane Wright will be a lock to be The First Overall Pick in The 2022 NHL Draft because there is a lot of very good young Draft Prospect's this year.
People calling Wright a bust HAVE NO HOCKEY KNOWLEDGE! What makes a bust? A bad coach, development system and a lack of having fun playing the game. Shane Wright is a perfect fit in MTL. Say Suzuki is the new captain (we will find out next year if he is, but I am just supposing) Wright would have an amazing young leader model to follow, playing with one of the best teaching coach in a great market in which HE WOULD LOVE TO PLAY IN! He has an amazing skill set, give him the surroundings and I have no problem seeing him as an amazing Top 6 Center.

Wright is not a very dynamic player and he's not at 100% all time, he's so intelligent that he can manage his game to give the minimum effort and push when its absolutely necessary, I can tell you that he's ALREADY under Montréal media watch, he will be crushed under the Montreal media pressure as did many young prospects (almost all of them) rushed too soon in the NHL, especially if he is not giving is 110%. Its not a good thing for him to be drafted by canadiens, dont tell me Gorton will change everything, he wasn't better to develop youngters in New York.
Wright's gonna be the RNH of this draft. Guy's got a very solid game for an 18 year old. Thing is you draft on potential, not floor. I see Nazar, Slovak 1-2, Savoie and Cooley all being easily better. You can even argue the Swede centre might have a higher ceiling offensively. The fins imo are overrated but Kemell looks to be a potential 40 goal scorer. The Czech gives me major boom or bust vibes, but still, looks like a higher ceiling than this RNH/Hiscier/Nolan Patrick cuck
Shane Wright is a natural center, I think the best one to come out since Matthews. He does the little things you want a center to do. He's so good at positioning himself, he's on the counter, converts defense to offense very well with his lead pass and seemingly always makes the high IQ play. Strong skater, ideal size and strength, deadly release with the wrist shot, good on the faceoff. Sure he doesn't have the high end 1vs1 someone like Hughes had coming out but I have no doubts he'll be a very good player. He has some Bergeron and Lindholm like effect on the game. You want a guy like Wright in the playoffs when the game gets more physical and condensed. 1-2 punch with Suzuki forming a strong 2 way center core. Montreal is still in a rebuild phase, they can get a skilled winger or D-man next year
Draft is shaping up very nicely. IMO, there are 7 guys (besides Wright) who could be legit top 5 pics and at least 12 guys who could be legit top 10 picks.
