What makes a Hockey Town? Is it NHL attendance average? Is it team success? Is it the presence of youth hockey or the lack or any other more impressive sports team? What do the Columbus Blue Jackets have to do to make Columbus a Hockey Town? Or are they already there?

Having moved from Raleigh to Columbus, I would consider the fans the same but Columbus more of a hockey town. I remember going to Canes games prior to their current run with Brind’Amour and the barn was half full but like Columbus, when a good team is there, the fans pack the house and bring the energy. However, I think Raleigh is more about NCAA basketball and football.
We hear more about golfing tournaments on the news than we do about hockey. Shit I remember after we beat Tampa in round 1 and 10tv sports anchor did an interview with jarmo and the piece was maybe 2 minutes long. Though the news has shown a little bit more love with covering the mike Babcock hiring and Adam fantilli win at the draft.
I don't think you can define a hockey town based on if hockey takes precedent in the city. That eliminates all US cities as NCAA football/basketball, NBA and NFL dominate.
I think so, I love the team
I was there at the game when the jackets swept the lightning when texier scored the first goal i saw cbj as a hockey town with that moment
