Nanaimo Clippers forward Ethan Scardina has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, the league announced Monday.
In three games last week, the Clippers captain had six goals and three assists for nine points and was named the game’s first star in all three contests.
After Nanaimo went down 2-0 in the first period to the Surrey Eagles on Wednesday in the team’s opener at the BCHL Showcase Festival in Chilliwack, Scardina answered with two goals of his own before the end of the frame to tie the game at two. He later added a pair of assists to finish with four points as the Clippers won 6-2.
The next day against the Victoria Grizzlies, the 18-year-old scored two more goals, this time in an eight-second span to close out the second period. He also added an assist to give him three points in his team’s 7-1 win.
Scardina wrapped up his impressive week on Saturday with his third-straight two-goal performance, including the game-winner, as the Clippers skated to a 3-0 win over the Powell River Kings.
After last week’s games, the White Rock, B.C. native is tied for ninth in BCHL scoring with 14 points in nine games.
