Alex Ovechkin Amazing Goal vs Phoenix Coyotes 2006 (All Camera Angles)

Was Alex Ovechkin’s 2006 goal against Phoenix Coyotes, the greatest miracle goal in sports?

For in scoring that goal, Alex had to break every conceivable rule, and do at least three things that we never expect hockey players to do.

It is nearly impossible to….

-Fall down after skating at full speed, yet somehow still maintain control of the puck while reaching back with your stick, on your back. Alex did.

It is nearly impossible to….

-Generate enough momentum, with the puck behind you and your entire hockey stick held flat on the ice, to fire toward a target while sliding away from that target on your back. Alex did.

It is nearly impossible to….

-From a 170 degree angle, fire a puck toward the only spot where it would go beyond the goalie’s stick and still have a good enough line to go in the net. All while on your back, with the puck behind you and with no time to actually look at eiter the outstretched goalie, or the net you are firing at.

Very few players could have done even one of those three things. Had only one of those three things not happened, the goal would not have been scored. That’s in part what makes the goal so amazing.

  1. That is the goal of the century. To this day no one has scored a goal like that

  2. In all honesty, and I got nothing against Ovi, he's one of my favorite players and I really gope he breaks Gretzky's scoring record, but I still say this goal was the combination of him just throwing it at the net hoping to get lucky, the way his stick happened to flick the puck as he was falling, and thr Yotes' goalie not expecting it (and the team being really terrible during this time).

  3. At that moment Gretzky knew Ovechkin was gonna be the one of the greatest goal scorers of all time

  4. Little did Wayne know he had just witnessed the man that’s going to surpass his all time goal record.

  5. pretty amazing seeing gretzky witness one of the most incredible goals ever scored. and by none other than the one who might break his goal record one day.

  6. Some men simply cannot be stopped. Forget about containing, just try to not get embarrassed.

  7. I love that I can search "Alex Ovechkin goal" and Youtube will know to bring up a goal in a laugher game against Phoenix.

  8. That was actually not that poorly played by the defender, but absolute shit goaltending.
