JD discusses why they’re definitely up there, but he does have another team with them as a good fit, and no, it’s not the Carolina Hurricanes. They also discuss how Kris Letang has given the Penguins his blessing to bring Karlsson in before ending the show with a mock trade proposal. The two come up with a trade that works for both sides and come to the conclusion that it’s time to call Mike Grier and Kyle Dubas. Really fun episode. I think if Dubas and Grier left it up to you two the deal would be done by now.
If you look at the Brent Burns trade, Sharks got a second round pick a goalie prospect and a forward Lorentz. Lane Pedersen and Burns went the other way. Maybe Sharks should do something similar.

I take comfort in that every day inevitably gets us closer to a EK resolution. We'll only have to endure like 2 more months at the very most. Training camp started on September 22nd last year. There's no way his 2023-24 team won't be decided by then.
One would hope that DeAngelo signing with Carolina concludes their interest in this affair. Unless they plan to have a defenseman that sucks at defending on the ice at all times? Burns, EK, TDA…
$11.5 Million for 4 more years for a player who is 33 ? I don't like it. Also, he has missed (on average) 25 games a year for the last 5 years. An old player who can only play 58 games a year and has the 5th highest salary in the NHL ? I don't like this deal at all, stay away.
It's difficult on The Penguins side because of two reasons:
– Karlsson's CAP hit, which is why a third team is needed
– Jeff Petry's 15 team no movement clause. If Karlsson is acquired, Petry has to be apart of the deal because Karlsson essentially takes his spot and The Penguins clear cap space. This is where a third team is also needed, because I don't know if the Sharks are on that 15 team no trade list for Jeff Petry.
Let him go he can't do anything defensive
If the TMLHC offers Nylander in an EK65 deal, Duby has no counter. Would be a yuge letdown for him and the fan base to lose out, especially to the organ-i-zation that parted ways with him. #Payback

Would move Brodie if Karlsson comes aboard. Murray also is a candidate to be traded or bought out.

If the rumors are true and the canes are offering pesce, jarvis and a pick, how can the pens compete? while pens could offer desmith, petry, granlund, who is looking to trade for them? could petry going to the hawks to get closer to home? and what would the hawks want to take on that cap space?
