As a long time Denver native and Avs fan – this has to do with A Dater specifically. AD is notorious around here for his… spicy takes. One of which is that the Avs are only a good team when they're an underdog. He thinks they can't win when they have the pressure of the spotlight, because they 'overthink everything'.
thats where his question comes from: a deeply held, longstanding belief by that guy that the avs get in their own head too much. I think this context is helpful
Adrian dater is the worst “beat writer” for Colorado. His Colorado hockey now blog had a “slew foot” article for the Mack injury last year. I called him out for the click bait and he blocked me.

NHL playoffs is a different sport compared to NHL regular season as we all know. Team concept is accentuated more for playoff hockey and goaltending needs to be flawless as we all know.

For the most part VGK succeeded at shutting down Nathan MacKinnon in the 2nd round of the playoffs. That is the type of player role assignment you don't see as much in the regular season, aka the "shadow player".

Just before Nate came on, Landeskog answered some questions. Dater asked him basically the same question with a 'Jesus Christ' in there.

Dater can go back and say he "mangled" the question all he wants. Doesn't matter. This is Nathan MacKinnon. Perhaps the NHL star who most hates talking to the media. He's like a more reserved Russell Westbrook when it comes to pressers. AND Dater has been covering the Avs long enough to know, that even had he worded it properly, Nate would have been JUST AS disgusted with it as he was with the "mangled" version.
Dater tries too hard. The guys I can access for free via podcast at DNVR can inform me of the insider news better than Colorado Hockey Now can.
He needs to get a grip and a feel for this team he covers. This is the 3rd year in a row where MacKinnon has had to deal with one of these pressers.
Just think if Nathan MacKinnon played for the Leafs the fans would want him traded with 9 years and no cup.

Dater use to be on the DNVR podcast (used to be BSN) which in my opinion is the best Avs coverage. He’s no longer apart of it, but at the time all he would do is argue with the other hosts because he didn’t know anything 😂 he’s quite the character
