The players on Patrice Bergeron

Respected for the consistency and competitiveness he brought to the game, Patrice Bergeron has long been viewed as the perfect hockey player by his peers.

  1. a first ballot HOFer, all time great player and one of my favs, but let's not allow nostalgia to lead to hyperbole. A lot of trophy voting is based on rep and his rep got him at least 2-3 Selke's alone. Datsyuk had a significantly higher end offensively while still being the best defensive forward so he is better than Bergeron at his prime. But Bergeron was still light years ahead of Toews who is one of the most overrated players of the past 20 years.

  2. Congrats man you were the reason i wanted to play hockey when i wasn't even of age to play in 8U you inspired me so much to play hockey.

    you will be missed

  3. Thanks to all who commented in the video, being a lifelong Bruins fan it is great to hear that so many other players have this level of respect for Patrice. I'd like to recognize the contributions to Bergeron's very early days in Boston from Martin Lapointe, a winger who mentored Patrice, helped him acclimate to hockey in Boston, and gave him some refuge as he improved his American English. These valuable helping actions were acknowledged by the Bruins' fan base at the time and in the media hoopla surrounding 37's retirement I want to say that Marty's help at that time should be recognized. The hockey community reflects the great relationships that are built in the greatest team sport.
