There’s no doubt Willie can get $11M on the open market. There’s no reason for him to budge to play on a perennial loser and sacrifice to be third fiddle.
He will go on to bigger and better things and the Leafs will continue into a downward spiral.

I did a bit of math. Without the cap increase, we should have around 12M available after signing key players.
Would it make sense to do a splash for Nylander? 10.5M/7 years?
I would love to see Caufield – Suzuki – Nylander
At the same time, I am not sure if it is responsible. However, I prefer going for one big elite players instead of many middle 6 forwards…
