The leafs don't need another offensive d-man… they need a player who can actually play defense so idk why people are still entertaining this thought especially when they're already over the cap 🙄

Leafs just freed 10million with Murray and Muzzin. Karlsson to the Leafs. Trade Brodie and Nylander for even more cap space.
Karlsson is not a defenseman…he's an offenseman. EK65 was in the 5th percentile defensively last season…and that was actually an improvement over his 3yr average(2nd percentile). The Leafs already signed an even worse blueliner defensively in Klingberg who was literally the worst defensive blueliner in the league analytically. Morgan Rielly also takes little interest in playing sound defense and was still practically Norris caliber last season landing in the 17th percentile. This team has gotten significantly worse defensively with the departure of Schenn and Holl and the addition of Klingberg. The average age of the blueliners that play solid defensively is 33.67 years of age. This does not include Liljegren who was well below average defensively last season at 38th percentile…but will be used just the same because he's on an affordable contract. Karlsson made almost no sense for the Leafs before the silly Klingberg signing…now it'd be downright silly.
Love the content, hate the subject, this is such a 'Dubas' mindset as well; more offence, more goal, more point, more win… It's been proven we can't outscore teams in the playoffs, we need defensive defensemen!
Plus Karlsson is 33, with 4 more years on his contract, is often injured and JUST had his career year, it's downhill from here.

If you want to talk Leafs, talk about how the Leafs love their Golf more than Stanley.
Maybe chase them onto the greens and down the fairways.
Or catch them on the ranges.
Or talk about how their Hockey season ends in Spring to coincide with the overlapping Golf season.
Talk about how their salaries should be capped at 8 mil, and % payments as per round advancements.
Incentive is key.
And they have already been paid so only thing that matters to them is Golf.

If we didn't get Klingberg then EK65 is very enticing. But having Rielly, Klingberg and Karlsson on the back end, that makes no sense. I love Karlsson, but it just doesn't make sense, we'd need him double retained and that alone would cost a haul

This move would make sense only for the Leafs. Add more offense to a team that is already offense heavy. Add a defensive liability to a team already filled with them. To make this work The Leafs would have to trade a few of their more defensive minded players to make cap room. Oh wait. They don't have any!

Klingberg is a poor man's Karlsson with WAY less risk and commitment. Why are we even talking about this? I swear agents just create these rumors whenever a big name is trying to switch teams. Throw the Leafs in the conversation and the attention goes way up. Not a knock on Rosehill or Alberga, love your show but this is just filler talk. Never happening.
They could trade Brodie for Karlson if SJ kept 50% obviously they’d have to throw in picks and prospects
They added more forwards who are not scared to go in corners and win puck battles but who are the defense who can do that and clear the front of the net? The Leafs need defensive D that are strong and will win puck battles and clear front of net. Trade Brodie and upgrade to a more physical right hand D finally for Rielly to play with .
