Goalie guru Kevin Woodley from @InGoalMedia joins to discuss Canucks goaltending, including a new system under Rick Tocchet making it easier on the goalies and not being as reliant on the position, Demko’s new offseason collaborator, the backup competition in camp between Spencer Martin and Arturs Silovs, the sweet spot in terms of number of starts, especially early in the season where feasibly Demko could play the first 14 games.

Really good defensive teams coordinate their defense systems w goalie capabilities, weaknesses, tendencies, etc.
Sounds like tocchet is going that direction
Yes some goalies need enough play to be good, others need enough rest to b sharp….know your tenders needs. Markstrum for ex needed play….if he was coming back from injury or something he'd stink the 1st game or 2 that goalie we had (played for team usa n later ended up in anaheim), he would come in sharp if he's rested….the exact opposite of markstrum. Our coaching staff didn't seem to realize this n kept playing the wrong guy.
