Interesting that Monahan mentions that St Louis understands todays game . He's relatable , the kind of coach I 've never really had. What does that say about Sutter? When players enjoy coming to the rink and doing the work it can only bode well for the future.

Great video! I was actually really looking forward for it since you mentioned it recently in another comment section. Good job!
BTW (and just for context), in the early 2000s I created an NHL blog as a teenage/young adult. For fun at first, but it rapidly became a side-gig as the blog became the most popular of its kind back then. I sold it to TSN and also got a 1 year contract to keep managing some aspect of the venture . During that time I've met many players and people in the business for interviews, assignements, insider info, etc.
As a MTL, Qc kid, I've had better access to people with the same origin and so was lucky enough to meet St-Louis and his family quite a few times.
Following that I've used the money to finance part of my academic career abroad; and had no relation with anything NHL related since then (so about 20 years ago).
Still, I'll never forget St-Louis in particular. He showed an immature blogger as much respect as he would to an Hall of Famer; it's the same with everyone. What a great guy, what a legend.
One of the most inspiring story in our beloved sport for sure!!
Almost 2 decades later, recently, I guess from a few mutual friends that I've kept since then, he somehow remembered who I was but also contacted me for condolences regarding the death of my forever wife at age 30. It was a bright moment during all of that darkness and I am extremely grateful.
Ask around, my story isn't special at all when it comes to MSL; a TON of people had similar experiences with him. So having him for a coach is an ABSOLUTE DREAM for our players and organization, no doubt about it!
Great video! Thank you. Gorton's best move was hiring Hughes. Hughes best move was hiring St. Louis. HuGo team emphasizing and expanding the 'Development Group' was a critical move going forward. Cheers
