Should Ryan Lindgren Face Discipline For Questionable Hit On Rickard Rakell?

The Hockey Central panel debate whether New York Rangers defenceman Ryan Lindgren should face discipline for his high hit on Pittsburgh Penguins’ Rickard Rakell and also look at Adam Fox’s questionable cross-check on Jake Guentzel following the hit.

  1. Throws his head back like all Pengs do… show me a slo-mo or stop shot of contact to the head…

  2. You guys are all idiots. Should have been a major penalty and the league needs to suspend him. Dirty play by Rangers and you guys are sleeping on it

  3. is this a fking pens fan panel? It was a textbook clean hit, not high, not late, just finishing a check.

  4. I have never seen a ref call it a 5 minute major only to back off and give it a minor proving he knew it was an illegal hit and that that illegal hit injured a player. That should be automatic 5 minutes. This was sickening IMO.

  5. He better be suspended that hit is worse then Donski watch him jump off his feed extending the elbow after the contact!! Suspension in my book!!!!!

  6. There was a ton of missed calls high hit on Marino. High hit on Rakell. Cross checks on just about every penguins star.

  7. You could see from the first 10 minutes of the game that a hit like this was inevitable. The Rangers were going to keep testing the waters to see how far they could take it. I think something even worse will happen in game 2 because the refs b*tched out & didn't set the precedent on this hit. Should've been 5min + 1 game suspension and fine. Not to mention a 2 min for the cross check and a 5 v 3 for the Pens.

  8. Something else for Pens fans to whine about. Trust me, Crosby and Malkin get away with plenty.

  9. 2 minutes for hitting too hard .. hockey is a physical game.. if the hit is clean as this was , it's irrelevant what happens to the other player…. expected suck up to the darlins of Buttman's NHL …

  10. It is becoming so evident that NHL referring is being directed which team to penalize and which teams to turn a blind eye to. So evident in the Toronto Tampa series ( refs pro Tampa)

  11. The decision was rather puzzling. The officials called a major penalty, but upon video review they changed it to a minor. I can see it both ways, but I don’t see a clear and obvious error in the initial decision (major). Even though I’m a huge Ranger fan, I think the initial call should have stood.

  12. Yes, he should. Any purposeful hit to the head should be out of game. He went in for a hard hit and elevated to hit the head. Out. With how bad he was hit that was terrible. And the hit on Guentzel was uncalled for.

  13. He hit him right in the chest and his arm caught him on the chin in the follow thru wasn’t anything malicious just unlucky

  14. In a sport where they literally fight and put each other in headlocks and throw little jabs at every whistle it’s honestly amazing to see people wanna see him suspended for this 😂 I never knew hockey fans were so soft

  15. There guys are clueless that was an absolutely clean hit should never have been called anything just because you hit hard doesn't mean its roughing

  16. It’s a dirty(ish) hit. Player was not blindsided like some people were saying. He originally came from the side but it was still a head on collision. But his elbow was definitely high. A Penalty is more than fair. A game suspension in the playoffs for something very unlikely to have been intentional, would be excessive. Especially considering how one sided and inconsistent the calls have been in the first half of this series it would be downright hypocritical at this point to go that far. His arm does connect with the chest, but the elbow was not level like it should have been. And though his feet do ultimately leave the ice, it was not
until after initial contact is made which sends him higher than he originally was going into it. You can see his feet on the ground at the point of impact. A reckless move, but very unlikely to have been intentional in such a quick play against the boards with little wiggle room for positioning.
