David Houghton arguably The Best Ever Batsman from Zimbabwe alongside Andy Flower, but I think D-Houghton is superior than Andy Flower because Flower never dominated The Bowlers as Houghton did. First ever Wicket keeper Batsman of ODI History who hit 6 sixes in an innings during his one of the best knocks of World Cup History (142 vs New Zealand, 1987). Great player of spin but also brilliant against pace. Still holding The Highest score (266 vs Sri Lanka, 1994) in an innings from Zembabwe.
Dave Houghton was a class player, he was the mainstay of Zimbabwe's batting for a long time. Sadly most of the great players couldn't play more no of games for Zimbabwe šæš¼ as by the time they peaked they were pretty old & had to leave the game. But he was a special player.
He was an excellent batsman who averaged around 44 in Test cricket and he really wasted his talent as he was playing for Zimbabwe. David Houghton played in the first ODI of Zimbabwe in 1983 as well as in its first Test match in 1992.
He should have played for Australia or England š

Zimbabwe would've won that match in which alistair campbell scored 86 off 108 balls vs india if they've got SACHIN TENDULKAR out early.
His bating style like Steve Waugh.
Houghton scored a big hundred in 1987 reliance world cup

It's so sad with all the riches that cricket has now …it could not keep the Zimbabwean team on a bare minimum survival mode.
Class act he wasā¦on par with Aravinda de silva or Azharuddin or Martin Crowe in talentā¦he had everything but didnāt play much during his timeā¦
Good player
