[Dhaliwal] For the 1st time since Jan 27th when he was shutdown because of knee surgery, Ilya Mikheyev has started skating. Agent Dan Milstein: We expect Ilya to be ready for the 2023-24season.

This is great, while watching the “every goal” video I remembered how well he fit into our lineup.
Let’s go!
I know the expectation will be for Mihkeyev to return to Petey and Kuz’s wing, but I think it would be a really cool experiment to have him spend time with Miller. Having Mihkeyev and Miller barrel down on you on the forecheck under a Rick Tocchet system would give teams some nightmares.
I didn’t know he hasn’t been skating. Not fair to expect him to be 100% with so much time off
so unfortunate this guy has been plagued with such prolonged injuries during his young NHL career.
here’s hoping for a full healthy playing season. he is a so fun to watch player.
I’m not a specialist, but I assume that even though he has not been on skates, there have been rehab and strength training going on?
Never forgot that Ilya was convincing Kuzzy to come to Van. I think it was even before he officially signed here
Canucks Management: “*Ilya, it’s time to get back on ice and start skating.*”
Ilya: “*Yes. Of course.*” 😶
(iykyk)
He was playing well before he got hurt, and was in a bit of a groove.
Having Mikheyev back is going to be a huge boost in our team morale and defensive play. He’s very solid 2-way guy in Toronto and I think part of the big PK collapse and defensive breakdown is the lack of a top end guy with his defensive instincts. In fact, I would go as far to say Petey could have had a 110 point season or more with Mikheyev alongside him all season last year, simply because he didn’t have to focus on all defensive plays and Petey could be a bit more risky in the offensive zone.
Top line looks like a lock: Micky – Petey – Kuzy unless someone surprises.
Such an underrated player. As a BC boy living in Toronto, I love hearing the fans here bitch about the Leafs letting him go. He was very popular here.
