The NHL’s Department of Player Safety allows a player to leave their feet in some cases to hit as long as they only go sideways. I’d say this is one of those rare checks where I think it’s ok because Leon Draisaitl does enough to take a good angle of approach and keep contact low.

Charging like a chump
Lol, this is serious?
If the call is simply the act of leaving your feet before the hit, then yes it’s a penalty.
The funny thing is I believe Leon wanted to throw the check with his other should and he quickly spun around and launched himself to maintain his momentum.
He still appeared to be more or less shoulder on shoulder. Usually when guys leave their feet, they are trying to get above the center mass of their opponent to knock them over like a bowling pin. I really don’t know what the rule book says on something like this, or what discretion refs bring to this situation. It didn’t strike me as particularly dirty, but I can’t say what the other player thought about it.
Charge
No.
A discussion could be had if the other payer got injured.
Lets talk about Pietrangelo’s bush league slash on Draisaitl last night
that's the only way to play in the NHL dirty way is the only way to win cuz NHL never followed IT'S oWn rulebook
It’s a chippy series. This was a clean hit and I’m saying this as a Vegas fan. Pietro’s in motion and Draisatl isn’t leaping to take a head off. Good check, good series. Plenty of dirty shit still to come from both sides.
