Still missing a ton of pieces, maybe if we had gotten Bedard somehow but those are just old dreams now.

We are just one rebuild away.

One more aging Swede on a fat contract and we’re over the top.

Hell just making the playoffs would be a miracle

We are not close. Given the current contract situation it’s unlikely we will be competitive until the miller deal expires at the earliest.
Unless management pulls off a miracle in the next two years or miller beats the aging curve there’s little chance for the Canucks this decade.

I was team rebuild, but I don’t think we are as far away as everyone thinks. The fact is, most teams who rebuild would kill for Petey, Hughes, and Demko. The Sabres have been rebuilding for 15 years and still have not come across a trio as good as that. A true rebuild requires a lot of luck and there would be no guarantee we’d even end up with the same level of players.

The fact is the team (mainly Benning) did one of the worst jobs possible at surrounding them with talent.

More like “how close are the Canucks to making playoffs”
We haven’t made the playoffs in 3 straight years and we are talking about how close this team is to winning the cup. Hilarious.

I’m very pessimistic about the ceiling of this Canucks team but this is a lazy article. How can the author not mention Hronek when talking about additions? He also doesn’t even touch on our cap situation which is integral to the overall picture.
It’s important to remember that YOU are often more in the know about your team than media generalists are.

Canucks will definitely make the playoffs If Dan murphy gets traded or maybe packaged with myers as a sweetner
