  1. Jeff Carter should be a healthy scratch from now until the day his contract expires. Would've been nice to acquire a better goalie / tandem (ala Carolina), but I suppose the asking price was too much.

Granlund can be moved at the trade deadline if not before. (FURH)

  2. If grandlund stays are we looking at doc-ellars-grandland? Not sure i love it but i dont hate it either. 4th line then nieto- accari- nylander (carter)…but my question is are we under the cap with that line up?

  3. If Granlund isn't part of a package for Karlsson and Dubas is still trying to get that done before training camp, then he may not have a choice but to buyout Granlund to open up cap space to make a trade for EK65 before training camp. If they don't buyout Granlund, then they are either planning on adding him as part of a Karlsson package, or are moving on from trying to get Karlsson now.

Carter being a 13th man healthy scratch would be better for the team as a whole, in my opinion, and would give opportunities for Nylander, Hinostroza, Johnsson to get ice time.

  4. Granlund is a buyout for sure. If you trade him you'll only want to get draft picks because the player the penguins would get back would be a cap hit and he might not produce much more than granlund so the Pens have to buy him out. I'm with wombat on this one. The Pens need so wiggle room with their cap being so high. I don't know why they didn't sign someone good in the first few days knowing that you're going to buy out 2 players to get back under the cap. Granlund would give you 4.2 million and Letang would be a hard buyout but I think that they gotta do something with him. Jarry hasn't been awesome but he's still very young. I think he needs to be on the roster just in case someone else gets hurt. Teams almost need to have 3 goalies on the roster nowadays. I just hope Jarry improves as he matures and doesn't pull a Matt Murray. Luckily Jarry hasn't won anything yet so maybe he wants to. I don't know. Those two cups Murray won as a rookie ruined him as a player. But I gotta think that getting bought out is what Granlund really wants. Now he's a ufa and can get paid by two teams if the pens buy him out.
