This is definitely not a fleece. But I do believe Detroit came out on top. Sebrango is a mid tier defensive prospect which makes a lot of sense as to why Steve bought defense heavily in free agency. Kubi is a solid player that fits Ottawa's roster right now. The first round pick is fine, but I am glad we kept this years. And the fourth is just some sugar to sweeten the deal. I think this trade helps both teams because Ottawa knew they weren't keeping the Cat so they had zero leverage.

No guarnatee that Cat plays with Larkin and Ray. I would not do that but that is just me. I am sure he will be playing on multiple lines anyway
Man… as much as I love Debrincat's game.. the guy who says he wishes we would have got him for more years is clearly uneducated on this topic.. Debrincat wanted 8 million, and 8 years.. He's not worth that right now, not even close. Draisaitl is making 8.5m
As a Sens fan, it's definitely not a fleecing. You probably won the trade (we'll see!), but it's truly a win-win. You got a better player that you needed for sure, but Sens got what we needed too in a situation where we desperately needed to unload him to free cap space, and he was holding the Sens by the balls, only willing to go to a few teams. The Sens are a playoff team now (barring crazy injuries). He was maybe Ottawa'a 5th best player, he may be Detroit's best. Let that sink in playoff hopefuls!
Sens acquired Debrincat for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and got back a 1st, effectively a 2nd, and forth here, but best of all we are saving a ton of cap space. At the time we said we fleeced Chicago, but we didn't, and you didn't. The Cat is a good player, but he's a defensive liability, hit the post on open nets literally 18 times last year, and still needs to prove he's a better scorer with someone other than Kane.
Either way, I'm really looking forward to the Sens/Wings games now, and watching our big guys pound Debrincat into the third row every time he gets near the puck!
This is an absolute fleece if you compare what both teams gave up to get him. If you think otherwise, youre most likely a sens fan thats waiting for Dorkion to show up with the lube
I saw yzerman s presser. He said that the negotiations started before the draft, which makes sense passing on gabe and other scoring prospects.
