I can definitely see Yzerman taking on Jeff Petry's contract and trading either Olli Maatta at 50% retained or Gustav Lindstrom for Pittsburgh's 2024 1st round draft pick.
If Canucks get rid of Myers then they need to get another defensemen. It is still unknown which one of our AHL defensemen is going to take the 6th spot as we only have 5 NHL caliber defensemen with Myers being one of them. Get rid of Myers now we only have 4 NHL caliber defensmen. Myers isn't going anywhere. If anything Canucks still need another defensemen unless they give Wolanin a shot this year as he was the AHL defensemen of the year last season
I'm not defending Myers or his salary, but I think a lot of Canuck fans don't evaluate him properly. Because he's so big his gaffes jump out on the TV. By all measures he's a pretty decent #4 guy on a middle of the pack team. Canuck fans want to shed him but have no vision for who should be eating his minutes when he leaves.
