Patrice Bergeron Blames Himself for Costly Goal in Loss to Oilers | Bruins Postgame Interview

BOSTON, MA — Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron says the team got away from doing what they do best in a 3-2 loss to the Oilers.

Bergeron had a costly turnover in the third period, failing to connect with Charlie McAvoy on a pass and leading to a goal by Oilers forward Ryan McLeod. Less than three minutes later, he would was whistled for a penalty.

“I think a lot of it is on how we played tonight,” Bergeron explained postgame. “Myself, on that second goal, turning the puck over. When it’s self-inflicted like that, they’re going to make you pay.”

  1. How about if Gryz doesn’t fall over and give up a four on one. Or the worst rule in hockey taking a beautiful goal away from Krejci. I’ll put those two up there before I blame Bergy for anything.

  2. He bruised his ego, and the teams as well, nothing but misery from here going forward, they will choke going into the playoffs and lose in the first round 🥸

  3. First loss in eleven games and this interview looks like they just lost the Cup.

  4. Well its about time some one tuned these boys in. Getting a little too high and F'n mighty. Met their match finally. B's will get beat up in the playoffs…..may or may not make the final…..and if they do….the Oil will be waiting for them.

  5. Well, is what happens when you take too much time off. You're nit ready to play and you're not on same page as everyone else. Rhythm, timing , spacing are off. It showed. Bad 3rd period. Brutal, Captain has to pull guys together and get everyone to play at their potential. I thought it was telling where this teams mindset is right now. They don't ha e that Championship mind set. Finishing off teams when they should. Hope they can beat them teams they should be coming up. Otherwise Bruins will get caught from behind by Canes or Devils and lose out on 1 seed

  6. Gryz falling was the beginning of the end … Bergy has saved so many goals and shut McDavid down last night …. The shots Coyle gave up where bad … it’s OK they played terrible and lost a game they where winning .

  7. wish i could of watched this game….wierd i cant watch the bruins in the boston area….

  8. "Patrice Bergeron Blames Himself for Costly Goal in Loss to Oilers." What? No he doesn't. i mean, yes it was his fault, but he makes no mention of it in this interview.

  9. I listened to the first 2 periods and was so excited for the team. Woke this morning and was miserable to see the game loss. Bergeron will coral the players. Perspective: Season game is NOT a playoff game.

  10. Not hard to win when your allowed to hook, hold, and interfere all game. The coilers beat two teams tonight Boston and the zebras!

  11. Oh no little Brad was bad? Can't imagine a team that comes from a place like Edmonton beating the Bs. Get used to it folks, the oil are the real deal. See ya in the playoffs.

  12. They’re fine no need to worry they made a few mistakes and it just so happens the oilers made them pay. That goes for every team. When you don’t play to your potential these things happen it’s called professional sports

  13. He said that the Bruins let the Oilers back in the game. The Bruins had no choice. The Bruins played as hard as they could. No excuses.

  14. Their gonna lose more games down the stretch. You throw out the records once your in the playoffs. Get healthy and rest some older players. That's more important then the stupid presidents trophy or any regular season record.

  15. Bruins lose a game, Bergeron says it wasn't good enough (They thrive for better each an every time they step on the ice) Then the public automatically split into : They're fine, Bergeron is right: OR OmG BoStOn LoSt OmFg tHeY ArE So sCrEwEd AnD DoNE

Lol.. relax people.. it's only the 9th regulation loss all season….. NINE… lol.. 6 weeks into the season there were teams starting to have that many losses… it took the Bruins 5-6 MONTHS lol

  16. Relax.. the real stage haven’t begun yet. Save your energy for that. U will have a handful once u get there. Can’t win every damn game.. just relax..

  17. Hagerty I am a 50-year Boston Bruins fan you know nothing you should be fired don't talk about my Bros if I have to come up there let's drop the gloves
