I wonder if this has to do with up coming findings from the Hockey Canada investigation.
This contract pretty much confirms Ersson is the #2 heading into camp.
Important to note that this is an extension. He is now under contract for three years.

Not thinking too deep on this one. Ersson showed a lot of promise last year and is clearly someone the org will look to develop now that the rebuild is starting. Also remember that Petersen is not a reclamation project we took in, he was a cap dump that landed us a nice prospect and a second round pick. He can be moved between NHL and AHL as much as we would like since no one will claim him off waivers with that contract. Unless he bounces back Ersson is #2.
This means Fedotov is staying in Russia.
