The only scary part in the "McCabe is like Muzzin" is the cervical spine surgery he had last year and the serious knee injury back in 2021. If he is fully recovered, great …. if not could spell trouble down the road. Worth the risk I guess with the salary retention. But the draft cupboards are getting pretty bare in Leaf land for the next 5 years, so they better do some serious damage this playoffs or else the carnage could get ugly.
Karlsson to Leafs ensuring at least 2 playoff round wins, for ……. Knies, 3 x unprotected 1st's, Sharks retain 50%, Kerfoot, Engvall and Holl. You want bold, I would do it. He is an absolute beast.

Idk how people are still calling for Dubas and/or Keefe to be fired. Look at the trades Dubas has made in the last few years and working his way around the salary cap. He's put the best team possible on the ice, probably one of the best leafs teams ever, he's a genius. Keefe has an amazing record as the leafs head coach since taking over for Babcock. If they go out in the first round this year, it's on the players not buying into the "killer instinct" win a cup or die trying mindset, plain and simple.

If McCabe was only a deadline rental, this would be a decent deal. The fact that he’s signed for two more, and Lafferty is also signed through next year, man… this deal was an absolute Fleecing.
These two trades, were okey to good, but certainly not great IMHO. What Dubas should have done is gotten Meier rom the Sharks & in a separate move picked up Acciari from the Blue & it would have cost the Leafs less then Dubas paid for ROR & Acciari together from the Blues. That’s getting a much better player in Meier who’s still bound to get better at only 26 yrs of age & ROR is only going to go downhill from here on in, as the vast majority of hockey player tend to do at the age of 32. Now that’s no disrespect to ROR, he’s always been a player on the slower side, but his high hockey IQ has made him a much better player then the vast majority of other players who were never speed demons on the ice, such as Tavares who’s also in the same boat & not gifted with speed on the ice, but he’s also had a very high hockey IQ this is what’s made him such a great hockey player throughout his entire career. That said, this is why so many teams were in on JT when he became a UFA 5 yrs ago, but you have to remember that JT was only 27 at the time not 32 & JT was by far a better player then ROR ever was, I mean Hell just look at JT’s #’s (27 G’s) this season & ROR’s has (15 G’s) so not everyone drops off as early & if they do it’s more gradual or there’s a further drop-off for him in order p 38:45 some then others. For instance ROR’s best scoring yr was 28 G’s & for JT it was 5 yrs of 30++ G’s & there was one yr that was almost 50 G’s (47 to be exact) & JT also outscored ROR in 7 seasons & tied him in one at 28 G’s, hence the difference in some players isn’t just the speed, it’s far more then that, but that’s a different post &/or a different story all together. That said, this is why I would have prey Meier over ROR. Meier has had 3 X 30++ G’s in his career & since the Leafs have lost out by one G in some of those 7 game series’s, Meier could give them that extra goal or two to win those crucial games.

Are you guys forgetting the stretch holl and gio had earlier this year? They were great as the top shut down when Reilly and brodie went down.

Gio holl
Reilly and brodie have played great every playoffs. Lillypad gets a steady d partner that can help with strength and gio holl can play great too.
Or even gio liljigren would be good, last year towards the end of the end of the season the gio lilly pair was great.
If kerfoot is linked to Vancouver it's probably just cap dump I can't see them getting alot for someone who has been on the 4th line.
Sandin has struggled to stay in the lineup and struggled on the ice. I would say that he's almost certainly the odd man out.
McCabe 50% retained for 2 more years after this plus Lafferty @ 1.15 for this and next year for a PROTECTED 1st and 2nd round pick and 2 minor leagers that were way down on our depth chart , we had Andersen for how long now and couldnt even get into the line up, i say that is a steal of a deal.Draft Smaft as ol Cliffy would say.We want a cup not players that are 5 years down the road and will never know till then if they even make it into the line up. This Trade Strengthen's us for the play offs. We almost beat TB in game 6 last year if was not for the phantom high stick penalty that wasnt, I think our Team overall can beat TB and maybee even Boston this year our 2 nemisis teams we have not beat till this year might happen cause of the 4 players Dubas brought in, if we dont win i dont blame Dubas i will blame Matthews , Marner for not showing up.
Now that sandin is gone and we got Gustafson we can finally stop playing holl. Is okay at best with brodie and is cancer with anybody else
