Jon Gruden just loves ball!
Actually, being a Raider fan, & something of a Derek Carr whisperer, here’s what I think is going on.
Carr has a massive chip on his shoulder & has a ton to prove this season, he’s also humble & pragmatic enough to use every resource available to him.
What I suspect is happening is Carr felt the Offensive install may have been “hitting a wall”, so he put out the Gruden signal, to help Carmichael kick it up a notch or two.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Gruden is involved all season, probably remotely, unless the offense needs a kick in the pants.
However, Gruden CANNOT be officially employed by the Saints while pursuing his lawsuit in the manner he is, because becoming a NFL or NFL teams employee would put him back under the arbitration rules that Gruden has been fighting & winning to keep his lawsuit in court.
This is substantially different than the Brian Flores lawsuit which is a class action discrimination lawsuit, while Gruden’s is a tortious interference contract lawsuit.

Q missed your show last night, but this is legit thing with gruden as to regards of you wondering if it was DA idea to bring Gruden in. it was not entirely his idea, Carr wanted Gruden to come in to get him compfortable with the saints, Keep in Mind how long Carr been with the Raiders, DA is doing everything he can to help Carr to be successful, Carr was drafted by DA so this is DA QB. i have heard reports that Gruden will be there off and on through out camp, Preseason, and the season as a advisory role, No Team can not sign Gruden till his legal issues with the league is done, Carmicheal has a very short leash depending on how the offense performs will Determen what the saints does in 24, i highly doubt the saints offer gruden any contract for this year, the saints cant offer or speak with gruden about a contract, the league would hammer down on the saints with a hefty fine should they do, he is there under a advisory role for Carr, WHO DAT
