  1. He got the leaf deeper than I would have given them a chance for, lets' see how bad this could be or surprising it could be.

  2. Keeping Keefe is nice, it kind of sucks that we got Treliving when Dubas was available but the coach really doesn't matter when the core players can't adapt to any style changes he does

  3. im ready for boucher to take ovver essentially the best approach to the leafs is a culture change so i assume they are seeing if keefe is capable of that task.

  4. Gritty players was what Keefer wanted. You gotta give him a shake without an analytical GM

  5. Dubas made a mess of this franchise as a result of bad contracts and bending the knee to the core yet leaf fans wanted him to stay and now your stuck with a coach that doesnā€™t know how to make adjustments and get the best out of his most skilled players when it matters the most.

  6. Keefe will probably held on a short leash. If they start the season and lose 8 of 10, he'll probably get canned

  7. Toronto really needs Ted Nolan. Coach is looked at as a leader. Nolan took a shitty team to the finals. Imagine what he could do for the leafs

  8. Keefe should have been dropped. He would be good for the Rangers, but the Leafs need a different guy. I don't know who would have been better though.

  9. the leafs were betteer with babcock than with keefe , he isnt a good coach he was gifted a good team when 5 teams in his division were rebuilding , he and dubas created a very dangerous culture of me first in that locker room , there is a reason players wont come to toronto his name is sheldon frost keefe and have you not noticed keefe is never up for the jack adams award

  10. tbh, after the first round win, I am feeling pretty good about where the team is. Obviously over the last two months, the Nylander situation has kinda became fucked beyond belief. Keefe's schemes have never been a problem except for terrible line changes.

  11. When Keefe skewered the Refs & blamed them last season, I know that guy will never win a Stanley Cup.

  12. Well, I mean, sure, Keefe hasn't had a lot of success in the playoffs with this group However he is by far the best regular season coach the leafs have had in decades so something has gotta break through or give for these boys to go on a deep run and even win the cup. I mean shit honestly, they just need an actual forecheck, and I think Keefe can get it done.

  13. Coaches have a shelf life. Keefe has been with some of these guys in the minors. They don't hear him.

  14. Doesnā€™t he have the best winning percentage for a head coach in leafs history?
A GM really canā€™t come in and say ā€˜youā€™re the problemā€™ with that type of record.

  15. I mean keefe got them over the hump finally this spring although it aint necessarily his fault the couldn't previously but tbh hiring guy boucher is good generally but absolutely concerning for him cause boucher is obviously no stranger to being a head coach in the nhl. Hell the lightning in 2011 nearly went to the stanley cup final with him as head coach and I don't think anyone expected the lightning to go that far in the playoffs that year so it is very clear he knows what he is doing

  16. The MOST important move the Leafs need to make is to bring in a veteran coach with a winning record… until then this group will keep producing nothing but a solid regular season.

  17. He has one more year, right? Iā€™m ok with letting it play out, but I would not extend him yet. Heā€™s been outcoached consistently in the playoffs and if it happens again I wouldnā€™t mind a change regardless of regular season results.

  18. The Leafs did have some measure of playoff success – back in 1993. But since then – does it really matter who coaches this Leafs Core 4 in the playoffs? There just seems to be continuous playoff disappointments – at least the Leafs do fair well in the regular seasons. Top 25 % in regular seasons & bottom 50 % in playoff teams – is their record.

  19. Die hard Leafs fan here: jeezā€¦this isnā€™t Hue Jackson of the Cleveland Browns here. The truth is the core 4 have to get their act together. Enough with the stage fright of the playoffs. Do you think any other coach will do any better? No, honestly.

  20. Treliving moves so far are horrendous, defensively they've taken as big hit as that ruzzian warship in the black sea.
Dubas had quite smartly brought in Schenn and Gustafson to plug the massive holes they've been having and what does Treliving do ? He let these guys go only to sign Klingberg who can't even defend on an AHL rookie for the life of him. Keeping Holl would have been less stupid of a move. Heck even letting go of Bunting to replace him with guys like Domi & Bertuzzi is a defensive dip, if not a plunge.
Sure they'll score quite a lot but they'll be hemhorrhaging goals like they're Richard Zednik's throat.

  21. The players are coach killers doesnt matter who coaches them. Dubas shoulda said yes to tkchuk for marner

  22. keefe is a good coach, after the series i did want him gone. but i am now more upset by the players, the core is crap they cant do it. i am gonna cheer for them regardless but they are terrible

  23. I don't think Keefe is the problem, and I didn't Dubas was the problem. I don't even think the corpse 4 is the problem. It's just a matter of time before scoring depth, team cohesion, good blue line, and reliable, consistent goal tending all gel resulting in a Stanley cup for the Leafs. I'm predicting it will happen in the next 5 years. Firing Dubas was in my opinion just cosmetics, and any talk of replacing Keefe or even trading 1 or 2 of the corpse 4 is pointless..

  24. He hasn't done anything as a head coach with the rosters we've had, seasons worse than what they've done would have been looked at as a failure season. But he hasn't coached them to a division title outside of the bubble year let alone conference titles or presidents trophies and obviously no Cup . He was out coached and they got outplayed in their single post season win.
Sure he is a fine NHL Head coach but just fine doesn't cut it to win championships and with the core they have they need to be aiming for no less than the cup every single year
