Best NHL Defenseman: Boston Bruins Orr or Detroit Red Wings Lidstrom?
I agree with a lot of his points.
What people don’t consider much if at all, is how short Orr’s career was.
In any regular game I think I would take Orr.
In a game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, I would take Lidstrom every time.
If a GM had could see the future and get what 18 seasons and 4 cups by taking Lidstrom, over 8 years and 2 cups from Orr, the GM would take Lidstrom.

Bobby Orr is a legend but he was playing in the late 60’s through the 70’s. If the question is who would you put in for a game 7 final game, by the time the late 90’s/early 2000’s when Lidstrom peaked roll around, you’d want to pick the most average defenseman in the league over Orr. The game had just evolved in speed and skill level so much defensemen were just better.
If the question is who was most dominant/innovative/impactful in their era, you can have a discussion.
