Apart from the free agents, and the draft picks, I think it's worth remembering that the Lions played a lot of rookies on D last year. They started off shaky, but grew a lot over the course of the season. I really don't think that the Lions on week 17 had the league's worst defense – even though the overall season stats might have put them in that spot.

Look at what Campbell did for Iowa Last year, 125 tackles 1 forced fumble 1 recovery and 3 interceptions and he's only going to get better

I think you're right. The D will be much better out of the gate. The national media is sleeping on our D because of the low ranking it had on the season seemingly not realizing that was mainly because of it's historically bad start.
Glad to see Holmes addressed a glaring hole in our LB room early in the draft. I’ve been waiting on some news and updates regarding Campbell in camp, so this is good to hear. Seems to be legit with his huge frame and the speed at which he moves. I love this pick and think it will be very fruitful. Hope he proves all the ‘expert’ mock drafters wrong yet again.
