This is a big trade, and might signal more moves by a couple of these teams before training camp.

Dubas always seems to love to kill the Salary cap with just 3 players .. Penguins will be great on the powerplay .. But they dont have enough on their 3 & 4 lines to make a serious run
As a Pens fan, it's nice to pick up Karlsson but they already have a super talented defenseman with great point production in Letang. I feel like what they really needed is a shutdown defenseman and that isn't Karlsson's game. I feel like the defense is still going to be a liability in front of Jarry. When we won cups in '16 and '17, the team had great defensive depth. Without great depth, you have to ask your goalie to stand on his head every night and I don't think Jarry can do that for the long haul and also stay healthy.
Interesting, I still don't believe in Jarry but if Karlsson can still produce this makes them better. Maybe this is their version of Boston last year to try and make a run before Sid, Malkin and Letang decide to hang them up? And yes, I am a die-hard, born in Boston Bruins fan that lives where I get the local feed of the Penguins games and can't not watch as much as my DNA tells me to hate them.
Pittsburgh now has 2-3 years to win a cup before they go full Detroit and need a 5-8 year rebuild. Basically, it's the opposite of what i would have done, but my boy from the soo didn't have much of a choice
Karl Leon not defensive and Pitt had a bad D last year reflecting on Jarry. Not sure this makes them better
Awesome go Pens go .
To many moving parts for my dumb ass head. Thank god the hockey guy made it simple for me
Clearly Pittsburgh goes all in for this year Hope Karlsson stays healthy . Montreal is now going to move Petry and Allen for likely picks again and thus alleviate the cap space pressure The loser here is San Jose
Sharks would have better off terminating the contract. Very little value for the Sharks in the trade for a superstar player.
Kyle Dubas collects hockey cards. In two years his team will be trash with no draft picks left.
Pens get EK 65 ! Toronto and the Oilers look like they were afraid to do something big to win the cup , they blew it . Get out the golf clubs for an early golf season in the spring . GO PENS GO . DUBAS A GENIUS .
Good trade for Pittsburgh to go after another cup. I knew the Sharks would need a three team deal to move Karlsson. Greer is lining up contract $ for when the new top prospects need to get paid. Go Devils! This could be one more bad season for San Jose to load up prospects for the future.
Woah. It happened.
Trade grades sj c+. Absolutely could have been more going to sj. Mtl b. Fantastic return to mtl . Pit b. Very good getting Karlsson and other assets. Nobody really gets the f here
Dubas to Guentzel for that LTIR relief: "You're GONNA have Surgery TODAY!"
SJ isnt going anywhere the next five years, not retaining 50% to get a better return is beyond stupid, if the owner is ok with it. Dubas did a homerun in this deal. Got rid of three players that were from meh to terrible and getting Karlsson for a first and a second at lower cap than what went out. I am sorry Hockey guy, but on this one you are terribly wrong(given Karlsson stays pretty healthy), and even then its better than what got sent out.
I still don’t think it’s enough for me to be convinced that Pittsburgh is a playoff team and they also don’t help their future
Mike Grier did well. Dubas gonna Dubas lol
Now that the Karlsson trade has finally happened, I wonder if Noah Hanifin will be the next blueliner to get moved.
I would think that some teams that were waiting/working on the Karlsson trade, might now look to Hanafin as the next best pick (and a cheaper one at that, too).
The real losers in this is the Toronto Maple leafs who got rid of a good GM(Dubas) and hired a bad one(Treliving).
So Karlsson goes from aging team in decline to aging team in decline. Must be very happy…
Maybe your all time favorite player, Crosby, will win another Cup…
Excited to see what happens with karlsson in pit, hopefully crosby gets one more run at a cup
On the surface it looks good the problem is AGE. All the Pittsburg main guys are very injury prone now, doubly so because of their age. So, on the surface this looks great, but more than likely injury will get in the way. Doubt they win another cup.
This is a great deal for the Pens. The top powerplay may be Crosby, Malkin, Rakell, Letang and Karlsson. That is insanely good
Sad to see Petry go but the team needed to get younger.
I'm still worried about depth. With Guentzel on LTIR, Pens have some cap space to pick up a few players to fill in the gaps.
I think the Pens get into the playoffs this year… but my predictions are usually wrong! Not sure who they push out of the playoffs – Ranger, Islanders, Canes and Devils are very strong this year.
