Rheinhardt Harrison, the distance star at Nease High School, rolled to a personal best time of 1:51.48 in the 800 meter run at the Bolles Bulldog Classic on Friday evening in Jacksonville. The performance is the second-fastest time this outdoor season in Florida behind only Samuel Austin at 1:51.24.
Harrison had little competition to press him to the time winning by a margin of 4 seconds and only one other runner in the field breaking 2 minutes in Buchholz senior Nathan Bailes at 1:55.54 for second place.
As his time continue to improve in the 800, Harrison should see his chances of breaking 4 minutes in the mile improve after running 4:01.34 as a sophomore last outdoor season.

  1. Beautiful run to watch. Right from the start he was his own compeition which is toughest of all when you are alone as pointed out by other posts.

  2. I’ve seen track meets take place in the cold. Notice everyone in hoodies, coats and hats? Yet, there is a swim meet going on simultaneously. Outdoors? or does this high school have a glass enclosed swim facility? Holy crap!?

  3. That young guy was in an 85% sprint the whole distance! He never let his heels down out of that cruising sprint.

  4. Runs a 54 followed by a 57. Most high school runners are lucky to break 60 on their second lap. Impressive.

  5. I ran on that track several times in high school, lots of memories…

  6. He is a great runner…with a lot of potential….Maybe even Olympic caliber….but I just hope he doesn't get burnt out by the time he is 21.

  7. I would’ve gotten last with a 2:14 but every meet I’d do the 800 after the mile so that really affects my 800 time

  8. Big props to Aiden Smith for taking out this race hard and keeping it honest the whole way. Very excited for the future of American distance running.

  9. Had a guy like this on my team in high school. He would train the same as everyone during practice, nothing spectacular. And then race day he would blow us all away. It was crazy, cause in cross country 5 k races his first few times he finished last place. Then all of a sudden he was winning every race by huge leads. Im convinced it was all mindset now that I look back on it.

  10. He is just a junior people….outstanding stride and oxygen intake.Cant wait to see him next year!

  11. I applaud the commentator for knowing and stating the meet record prior to and during the race. He is more prepared than NBC commentators. But I can't help 😔 how bland of a level of commentating this was for such a great time. Sounded like he was commotase. He possibly has a future at NBC.
