Friendly reminder for everyone that thinks he’s hating the trade ; Jeff Petry had a 15 team No-Trade List and the Habs weren’t on that list.

Or he didnt think the team that traded him would reaquire him

i was curious about this though, when did he last revise/submit his no-trade list?

that Dadonov trade showed us that its not always clear in these circumstances … maybe it was the same list he submitted when he was still with the Habs? I feel like Dubas and Co would be wise enough to get him to submit a fresh list though.

so maybe he just took a chance thinking the odds of being traded back to the team who recently unloaded him were quite slim.

doesn’t really matter i guess. i dont think he will skate for us again, but i wouldnt be upset if he does

Honestly, it takes the usual suspects no time to start crapping on Habs players and spreading rumors.

Was it officially reported Montreal wasn’t on that list or are we just speculating and we MIGHT’VE been on the list, which he then accepted to lift when told we’d trade him by season’s start?

I just thought always we were rebuilding and Petry didn’t get along with Ducharme etc not that he hated it here.

All this talk about his wife and how she hated the Covid restrictions is so over the top. Hey yeah, it actually does suck not seeing your family while other places were open I don’t see what’s the big deal about that take.

(Speculating) He doesn’t necessarily have bitter feelings towards the team, and it could have been that the circumstances at the time of his trade temporarily soured his feelings towards the team.

Or he could not have considered that he would be traded back here, but we probably won’t know. Either way, hopefully everything is handled professionally.

Petry will be an Oiler by the time the season starts.

  8. And? Im not disliking the player because of his trade request, im disliking him because of his work ethic

  9. Slubber-Degullion

OH NO! More Petry – Caufield OT goals this season?

    How dare they /s

“I knew I forgot something!” – Petry maybe

I don’t really care. That man can never put on that jersey ever again.

  12. Normally I like the idea of eating salary for draft picks, but now we’re stuck with Petry’s cap hit not only for this year but for next year too. And if we want to get rid of him, even if we retain a part of his salary, it’s likely to cost us a draft pick.

edit: I think people are underestimating how bad and untradable Petry has become.

Petry only has himself to blame for poor performances in Pittsburg. He would have delivered more, Pittsburg would have make the playoffs, Habs would have get the 16th OA pick from FLA instead of the 31st OA, ans Petry would have most likely stayed in Pittsburg.

We should probably wait until the season actually starts with Petry on the roster before we worry about his work ethic or willingness to be here.

  15. snark_enterprises

    I think this is a re-trade situation.

Pit retains 25%, he will be traded asap at 50% of the salary, making him available for cheap.

We basically got a 2nd rounder for him for salary in a year we are not meant to compete, traded Hoffman and Pitlick to clear the offense.

Master move from HuGo. our d is stacked and we can trade for offense.

Makes no sense for Petry to take time from the young’uns so I don’t think he’ll be a Hab for long.

One team that really jumps out in dire need of a RD is Florida. With both Ekblad and Montour starting the year on IR, they have no RD. Florida needs to keep the ship afloat until these guys are back if they hope to have a sniff at the playoffs. They have some draft capital and/or I wonder if they would be open to trading Knight, and what that cost would be.

From a family perspective his kids grew up here, I wonder how that does or doesn’t play into the calculus of coming back to Montreal. Not to mention this is a world class city and a place where people care about hockey

Maybe a Detroit flip incoming since Petry is from and since his wife doesn’t want to go back living in Canada…

I think his wife was just hating it in MTL during the lockdown. Prior to that, I thought they liked it.
