  1. Colorado won this trade, they got a bigger and better Jost for cheaper. Jost has been given every opportunity in Colorado and never progressed

  2. Minnesota loses Pitlick for nothing and then goes and gets a guy not as good as Pitlick at 2 million for another year? dumb? I think so.

  3. Sturms ceiling is on display, he will never rise higher than a good fourth line speedy forechecker, I liked Sturm alot; Jost starts performing closer to his potential, which he will get more opportunity to do so in Minnesota, this is a heavy sided trade towards the Wild. Could go either way but I see this as being a great trade for Minnesota, probably slot in on the 3rd line. Colorado has the luxury of a plethora of talented forwards, the Wild snagged one IMO.

  4. I've been saying from day one that Jost will never be the player the Avs hoped he'd be. He's good on the PK, but that's about it. Sure he might get some 3rd line mins when someone else goes down, but he should be scoring more points by now. I don't know enough about Sturm to say I like him or not, but this was a salary shed. I'm glad the Avs got a little more weight on the ice for the playoffs.

  5. I watched jost as a kid in penticton so I might be a little biased but I think the wild win the initial trade, jost has always impressed me

  6. I'm an Avs fan that loves Jost but on ice and salary wise, this seems like a decent move by Sakic. Some underlying numbers are better for Sturm as well

  7. I think sturm was capped out being a speedy bottom 6 forward which is exactly what they need, and I feel like jost can possibly explode if he’s given time with fiala and boldy. I think this definitely works for both teams

  8. Sturm is a North south grinder who is not particularly tough; has below average vision, hands, puck skills and shot. He grew up in Germany and played four years of college hockey. Jost is a former #10 overall; a top 6 center, played internationally for Canada, who has been reduced to a role position because of McKinnon and Kadri. Who would want to be around those disks anyway? Now his teammates are forced to listen them, and Jost will be welcomed with open arms to claim his position as a top 6 center.

  9. Colorado isn't looking for Sturm to do much outside of play defense, be physical, and play solid on the defensive end. Anything else he adds is gravy.

  10. Minnesota turned Hartman and Gaudreau (previously bottom 6 centers) into top 6 guys. With Jost being younger and arguably having more offensive potential than either of those two, maybe they feel they can turn him into a solid 2nd line center as early as next season

  11. I think the wild knew next season they would be outbid for Sturm. This gives them a forward for next year that has similar production for 2 mil in 22-23. This also gives the Aves a forward to use this year and free up cap This year and next. Win win for both sides

  12. Fantastic trade for the Avs. They get a bigger, probably better 4th line center. The Avs free up about million and a half in cap space and Jost is a free agent after the season. The Wild benefit too. Jost is a great lockerroom guy, a little younger with a lot of upsides. No one has a bad word to say about Jost. I think Strum will be better with the Avalanche while Jost might have to be on the second line to be better. A deeper Avalanche team benefits Jost or Sturm.
