Why Karlsson trade is a win for Penguins

TSN Hockey analyst Frankie Corrado breaks down the Erik Karlsson trade from San Jose to Pittsburgh, how much better it makes the Penguins, and if the Sharks got enough in return for the reigning Norris Trophy winner.

  1. NO SHIT. Getting One of the best players in the league is a win. Who thought it was a loss? Dummies…..

  2. Exactly. Great take. San Jose just wanted to get rid of Karlsson's contract with retaining the least amount possible. Sure, we took guys from Pittsburgh who they felt were overpaid and underperforming, for Sharks, we're not expecting to be a contender anytime soon.. It's rebuild mode. Those players acquired have team friendly contracts, 1-2 years they will either be traded for assets, for now they can contribute on the ice and help the young guys in the system. Sharks objective was to get back flexibility in the cap, which Grier did.

  3. Now they just have to play a bit of defense and outscore their problems.

  4. the media love to excite fans over trades.
ek has had ONE good year over the last six years.
he'll be similar to letang and cost 4 mil more.
    bad move.

  5. The Pens missed the playoffs and should be rebuilding. Instead, they're trading picks to bring a 33-year-old expecting to contend for a cup? Malkin is 37, and Crosby is 36. These guys are on the brink of becoming the Blackhawks a few years ago.

  6. If you scratch out "Penguins" and substitute "Sharks" or "Canadiens" this makes sense for everyone except Frankie, Howard Berger and Kyle Dubas.
