The Penguins just undid all their dumb moves with possibly an even dumber move. This could be a more expensive OEL trade. Granlund just scored 64 points a year ago and was on pace for over 50 with Nashville before the trade. The Petry deal was terrible when Montreal signed it. As for having 3 goalies they kept Jarry and signed Ned. They caused that problem. They traded for Reilly Smith when they didn't have to and exacerbated a cap problem they had previously made. They dumped short term money no deal went beyond 2 years vs Karlsson signed the next 4 years. This is a huge gamble if EK goes down in preseason with a high ankle sprain kiss the season goodbye. đ¤ˇââď¸

Yeah I didn't like the trade at all, pens paid a lot for an aging injury prone D man that doesn't play D very well, they're also buying high and there is no doubt his production wont be anywhere near as good this coming year, this is also a 4 year contract at 10m/yr, while also retaining on Petry. This move did nothing to address the issue the pens have, they need more scoring depth and to sure up the D core, so unless EK pulls off another insane year I can't see it ending well.
