  1. As nice as all the goals were to see, the Sabres went back to playing soft and not too physical this game and that is why the Caps hung around so long.

  2. That was a BIG TIME win. Winning that game without 2 of our 3 best players and fairly convincingly. Cozens is rapidly becoming my favorite Sabre. The Workhorse from Whitehorse is becoming a stud.

  3. And that Pens-Tampa game is a prime example of why our fanbase needs to settle the hell down when we have a bad game here or there. It happens to EVERYBODY. Does anybody now think Tampa is a bad team or not a threat to win the Cup? Just because they lost badly to the Pens one night in February?

  4. What a game showing the depth of this team, everyone stepped up in a huge way in a wild card game. UPL, please stop letting in 3+ goals per game. Now I don't know if Mitts misinterpreted a call from the D to the bench for a change, and thought it was a call for the puck. The TB game with a too many men for lazy skate to bench (twice this season so far called on that exact same laziness). Mind you, Casey has had some great plays tonight, not all got credit for but he started some plays on great passes. Notable mentions, Quinn(looked very good with TNT and Skinner), Hinistroza very good game. Cozens MVP. FO% looking good last few games. Back to the 6+ goals in Red and Black drops mic

  5. And sorryā€¦another commentā€¦Iā€™m doing a stream of consciousness thing šŸ˜‚. I think we didnā€™t hit much today because Granato knew they were facing an older team on a back-to-back and the winning strategy was to wear them down by skating them to death. The previous few games give me hope Meatballs will deploy a more physical strategy when needed. Also nice to see us getting so much better on draws. It feels like weā€™ve been horrible there for about 15 years.

  6. Quinn looked great today and made an incredible defensive play to create a turnover before setting up Cozens on his 2nd goal (Buffalo's 6th goal). Buffalo really needs Olofsson to get it going with Tuch out. I really hope Dahlin is ready for Tuesday, as Buffalo cannot afford to lose at home to Columbus (the worst record in the league). Ottawa and Detroit are playing each other twice coming up. Really hope there are no 3-point games between all of these jumbled teams in the East. UPL has had some really rough numbers lately, but somehow has a remarkable 15-8-2 record. Buffalo really just out-scoring their problems lol

  7. This is a nice win, but an aberration. Washington played as bad today as they were great yesterday against the Rangers.

  8. The crowd was a little quiet for a sellout. However, it was Kids day for one. Two, it was an afternoon game which means alot more sober fans. Saying that the crowd really got involved after the 1st period. I was there

  9. Victor is a weird guy, I watched a interview with him. He described himself as someone who sneaks into the play. Waits sorta by the blue line or outside the blue line to drop in when everyone is dropped down low. Or to one side. Hes streaky. I hope he comes alive soon. When it rains it pours with him.

  10. 100% agree wayne , good win today without Dahlin and Tuch ! This might be a bit too earlier , but right now im not comfortable with UPL and Comrie in net for next season assuming Levi is in the AHL for a year .
There are quite a few UFA veteran goalies available this summer, Andersen Carolina, Varlemnov NYI, Reimer SJ , Quick LA or Talbot Ottawa to name a few . Or maybe Adams could see what Anahiem wants for Gibson. Bring one of them in and give each UPL and Comrie equal amount of exhibition games to battle it out for second goalie spot. Loser goes to Rochester.
Was going to mention that Nashville sat out Tanner Jeannott tonight and maybe Adams could trade for him. Gawd im glad he didnt as Tampa paid a small foutune for him ! Cal Foote ,( a decent bottom pair d man) plus 5 DRAFT PICKS! Thats CRAZY!
At this rate there wont be any trades on deadline Friday šŸ˜šŸ˜
Thanks for the video Wayne !

  11. I'll be honest I wasn't worried at all about today even without Tuch and Dahlin. With Washington trading away their players, it's hard to motivate the remaining group of players who's management is low key telling them they aren't making the playoffs.

  12. the announcers were NBC, no kind of hype when we scored, but when capitals did they were excited lol.

  13. I want two big, solid, lockdown blue liners, and Chychrun. Bryson should be in Rahchacha, Jokiharju should join him and be our #8

We should pick up Chychrun to pair with Power. Schenn and another big guy to split with Boosh and depth for Samuelsson. Dahlin Power Chychrun all moderately similar styles, Jokiharju for depth

Karlsson w/ salary retained is intriguing considering the year he's having and I think he would likely continue to have success here into the final years of the contract

Insane defensive talent on our blue line w/ a blend of guys w/ more offensive/attack upside and others w/ more defensive/lockdown. Even Samuelsson and Boosh are getting assists and breakaways though, so whoever we get would get in on the action too, but our already-potent offense would get even nastier and our physical game and goals against should improve significantly as well

These kids are SO good when they're "on", it drives me nuts that they haven't gotten any help yet! We have plenty of desirable prospects, weaponize them!! Bring Murray up as a power forward instead of Hinostroza, even though he scored a goal his problem is his 2-way game, whereas Murray hits and is almost Tage-sized

These kids can beat anybody and at their best are sometimes able to beat great teams also at their best, and GMKA needs to support them. We could be even better now and in the long run by spending a little now

Sorry. Rant over. Let's Go Buffalo!!!

  14. I think the goathead has voodoo power. Minus the game against Philly, they have won 7 games and have at least scored 6 in all those games.

  15. Did you notice that Wilson is not the same guy he was before all the injuries? I was so sure that he would be the one who would try something silly before the second intermission to try getting them going.

  16. Was very impressed by how far Quinn has come in his all-around game. Came in as a goal scorer, but today showed amazing play making ability especially the assists he had on 2 of Cozens' goals. He will be the reason Oloffson will likely be moved in the off-season. Was also glad to see Hinostroza back up with the team. Not because of the injury to Tuch, obviously, but by the fact that it always seems he provide a spark to the team. Since it sounds as if Tuch will be out for a while, Hinostroza should be around for a while. It would mean reshuffling the lines a little, but if I were HCTG I would keep Vinnie in the line-up on the 3rd Line and bring Asplund in for Peterka. Peterka has done literally nothing offensively since at least early December. Like Peterka, Asplund won't score many points, but he can provide a better defensive presence and win some face-offs. Peterka's game has gone completely south, in all facets. He probably needs to go back down to Rochester but if they feel they can't or won't give him a bus ticket east, they should sit him and let him watch and play maybe every 5th game or so.

  17. The whole team picked it up today. But for Mittlestadt's brain fart, we win going away. That's exactly the type of disaster that would doom the old-look Sabre's. He's lucky Granato didn't bench him for that.

  18. 5-1 Wayne, since your final 30 game prediction of how many wins/pts we're going to need to get in. With 24 games left now, will .500 hockey get us in from here?

  19. For those of us who are doubting? Can you blame us? I'm old enough to remember the Sabres' first playoffs in 1973. From there, their countless division titles, 2 finals appearances, their time under the coaching genius, Scotty Bowman. Let's not even get into the Bills. Buffalo sports is cursed. So yes, myself and others will remain doubters until the Sabres are up by 5 goals with 1 minute left in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

  20. GMKA should target a J. Reimer of the Sharks & J. McCabe of the Blackhawks.
    Maybe a Comrie & a 2023 4th for J. Reimer (2 year $3.5mil per extension).
    A 2023 2nd for J. McCabe.

  21. if Olofsson didnt have that shot, he wouldnt play in the NHL.. his consistency is awful. pre-all star weekend he played great – with great energy. but that is gone, and now he is back to december olofsson. its like he havent figured out the optimal diet or something for him to perform. his body takes a month on/off. maybe look to move him if the return is good.

  22. Much as I enjoyed this win I'm still worried by the defensive frailties. You can criticise UPL all you like, he's been a decent if unspectacular goalie this year but 3 of Washington's goals came from a player completely in the clear. It felt like a perpetual powerplay as the Caps were given way too much room around the net. I don't care who your goalie is he's getting picked apart by forwards with time to pick there spot. A few years ago Sabres fans were lamenting the loss of Ullmark, a goalie who was also average but behind a solid Bruins defence suddenly looks vezina calibre. Nobody Buffalo could acquire will do better behind that defence. Just a minor adjustment to zone cover and that problem goes away.

  23. Drove 6 hours to sit in seats that were just amazing as i stood in the tunnel being held to the next stoppage because I was about 5 minutes late started getting tears in my eyes what a day

  24. The boys gave me a great Bday gift. On a different noteā€¦is Adams in hiding? UPL may not be the answer eh? Bryson looks lost. We need help on the backendā€¦Great videos Waynesy!!

  25. I think you are being way tooo generous to Washington… We don't look like we are 5 years behind them… That would assume we would be old and about to start a rebuild in 5 years. NoNoNo… We are 10 years behind them… We are about to start our 10 year Amazing Run.

I will come back here to eat a crow or to pat myself on the back!
2023-2024 to 2032-2033… We will have 8 Playoff Appearances (Potentially 9 but assuming injuries happen) We will win the Stanley Cup once, and either make the Eastern conference final or another Stanley cup which we lose.
The next 10 years we will have 8 playoffbirths at the min… With 5 of them moving on, and at least 2 of them making it to the Eastern conference.
