How Far do the Bruins Fall This Coming Season?

Boston had a record setting regular season, then lost in the first round before losing key players over the summer. It could be quite the fall from grace.

  1. I think they are going to be fighting for a wildcard, they were already nowhere near what their stats said last year and they are losing like half their main depth. I would pick them to miss the playoffs but Pasta is still a monster and that d core/goaltending is decent

  2. I can see them right on that line between in and out… my hopes… 7th place.. (detroit 8th)… I could easily see them out of the playoffs..

  3. They still have an excellent top 4D, Pasta, and elite goaltending. They are going to see goal scoring drop off a cliff and, probably, just miss the playoffs in spite of their strengths unless all 3 rebuilding teams underwhelm expectations or Tampa regresses more than I think. Went all-in last season and are left with a prospect pool near the bottom of the league. They won't be out of it enough to trigger a rebuild by trade deadline, but I could easily see one start in full force next year.

  4. Didn’t mention merkulov or lorhei. This team is a team kinda just fielding a roster while getting a look at the players coming up. In 2024 they have their core locked up long term and 30 million in cap space. This year is a fallback year before returning to elite

  5. Fall? They were bounced in the first round. They already fell. Now they’re back at square one. I predict a limping into the playoffs and another first round exit. I will never be duped again.

  6. Yeah, right. The Bruins have supposedly been falling for a while now and every year its bullcrap. I agree with you that they SHOULD fall to some degree but because of that they are going to win the division for sure because…hockey.

  7. Yea don’t forget about Ottawa either they made moves to get stronger and def have better center depth

  8. Pretty easy to see Bergeron was not what he was….it was time, but he will be sorely missed. Cassidy was the BIG mistake they made.

  9. Hall actually produced well for a third line winger.

The center position will kill the Bruins. They will either miss the playoffs or only just get in.

  10. I can certainly see the Atlantic being a toss-up this year even if I thought it was going to be last year

  11. People seem to forget we still have the best goalie tandem in the league, a top 3 d core and a shit ton of depth on wing. Yes center is a little bare but Zacha imo can and will be a ppg player with pasta and Marchy. We will be no worse than a wild card team. Keep sleeping tho like y’all did last summer look what happens

  12. I voted 3rd or 4th but this is a situation where I would have liked to see a 4th or 5th choice. I can’t see them being in third at all but they still have too much talent to fall to 6th. Who knows.

  13. Should still make the playoffs. 6thish seed probably. Monty is a damn good coach. Was the best I have seen the Stars play since 90s when he was here. Still pissed Nill fired him.

  14. I thought they were going to fall off and miss the playoffs last year. Boy was I wrong. Common sense would say that when you look at that roster, it appears ripe to take a step back, and struggle. However, it’s the Bruins. They still have a few guys who learnt under quality coaches together – in a great culture! Their core guys simply know how to win games. That winning culture seemingly rubs off on most of the new players joining that group every offseason. It has to, or there wouldn’t be the longevity of success the Bruins have had. Providence also seems to do a very good job at preparing players to play Bruins hockey. It’s kinda like the Lightning, in the sense that Boston seems to always have a couple contributing young players nobody’s ever heard of, who come out of nowhere, and make the very most of being called up. Bergeron is definitely going to be missed.

  15. If Krejci doesn't retire, does that cause even more financial headaches for Boston? Can they even afford to pay him?

  16. If Boston can only keep Swayman from playing with others teams players hair during the final minute of tied games like he did in game seven against Florida, causing his inability to get across and save the tying goal. Prediction: Boston 3 or 4th and maybe final wildcard spot.

  17. Anthony Richard could low key step up for them. From what I saw of him in MTL last year, he's an NHLer. Give him a chance in the top 9, he'll make it count.

  18. Merkulov, who had 55 points in Providence last year, is a better prospect than Lysell or Beecher at this point.

  19. Prior to last season, I thought they were gonna miss the playoffs. As it turned out I was very wrong but in a few years they're probably gonna bottom out.

  20. It's gonna be pretty bad if you are running out Zacha and Coyle as your 1-2 punch down the middle. Buffalo isn't regressing at all, just more and more progress and it's gonna get worse and worse for the top of the Atlantic next year. Buffalo and Ottawa is coming for Tampa, Florida and Boston. Toronto can get continue to get it from Buffalo too. LFG Buffalo!

  21. You have it correct. It's a tough division and every other team is trying to get better. I expect that Boston will start to slide … duh. The question will be, when will the rebuild start and how committed will they be. Montreal is showing that it can be done the right way, but they have had draft picks. Maybe the Bruins move a goalie at the deadline?
