Does this change your view on this version of Canucks Management?
Playing it safe you’ll lose petey next year, so they made the choice. If it’s really a rebuild you dump petey and Hughes and demko and really go for it. Petey won’t want to sign if there’s no effort to put a team together. A mid first round pick that maybe/probably won’t even happen this year will be possible 2-4 years away from becoming a player. Plus they still have a first round pick. Plus they also might not be done trading yet. I like it.
It’s a steep price for hronek but that’s the price for a top 4 RHD who can put up 40-50 a season.
Patience? Come on man figure it out you think Rutherford who is 100 is coming to Van to rebuild. Those 2 picks say you draft them and they are maybe 2-4 years away if lucky and that’s if they don’t end up as busts. By the time they can enter the league petey and Hughes will be close to their 30s. There’s Noway petey and Hughes are going to want to stay for a rebuild!
Hronek has a sought after skill set at a sought after position. Been watching him for years between Grand Rapids and the Wings.
But when I heard hronek was moved my immediate thought was maybe the wings got a second round pick + a late rounder or something else.
But a 1 and a 2? I do t know what to say other than Yzerman had to take that even if it makes the wings softer to end this season.
