  1. Way down season? I mean is point per game ratio was 0.508, his best point total was in 2018-2019 with 46 points in 82 games which is 0.561 points per game and is best points per game ratio was 0.764 with 42 points in 55 games in 2020-202. So, of course he is not going to be worth a first round pick but I think he could stiff offer some good hockey to whichever team wants him. Otherwise, solid content! Keep it going.

  2. Why can’t they get a First round pick for Petry, especially if the Habs retain an additional 50% in Petrys next trade? More than half of the league is right up against the cap so a first round pick is doable for Petry! Salary Cap Space is at a premium right now and is the most valuable asset in the NHL!

  3. I used to like Petry a lot. He had his best moments when he played with Shea Weber. Not only Weber brought a physical aspect to the game that Petry lacked, but also Weber was the one with the intimidating slap shot. This meant that Petry concentrated on his very, very precise wrist shot. When Weber got injured, Petry changed his game and started to use his slap shot a lot more, with way less success. As to seeing him back in Montreal, I would not necessarily see that as a bad thing, IF he can keep his head in the game, which means that Julie has signed off on the trade. What I don’t want, is seeing him casting a cloud on the team’s moral, as he did during the last months on his previous stint in Montreal. But I agree that more likely than not, he will be traded again to a team playing South of the Canada-US border.

  4. It might just be a coincidence but Légaré (who came here with Petry) is a close friend of Lafreniere's. And if I'm not mistaken, Hugues was Alex's agent. Theres most likely nothing there, but maybe Petry's heading to New York?

  5. I'm not saying he's worth a 1st round pick, but anyone after the second round in the draft is a long shot to be an impactful player in the NHL. Yeah, it happens, but even the guys picked after the 2nd round who do actually play time in the NHL usually don't do it full time, and the ones who do are very rarely players who end up being the reason a team wins games. At most, 5% of third rounders are going to turn into decent players, so you need to be incredibly lucky to land at the exact spot in the draft that gets you that player. If they trade him for a third rounder, it would be the same as if he was never included in the trade to begin with.

  6. Washington is in need of cap space and a defenseman who can put up points. Maybe mantha and a 2nd/3rd for petry at 50% salary retained. Plus, they don't wanna rebuild so they might be willing to take on a 35 year old player

  7. Don't care how good he was for Montreal, the way he left, was being a bitch, so ship off to whoever wants him, don't give a fuck what we get in return, just get him out of here.

  8. Dallas appears to have been showing strong interest in Petry's services in the last several hours or so. Will be interesting to see where that goes.

  9. I always liked petry a lot. great player. when MTL traded him i was like wtf but now that he's back (maybe for a while )….

Id find it nice if he'd stayed and played for next season… the man has a great slapshot

  10. Edmundson 50% retained (1.750) got the CH a 3rd and a 7th …. Despite being injured 24/7

Petry is still a top4 defenseman that produces around 0.525 points per game, i doubt he will fetch the crazy return we got from Chiarot, because this is not the deadline, but there is a lot of space between the return of these 2 trades …

I can see Petry fetching a first round pock top10 protected and a last round pick if he is 50% salary retained by Montreal.

But im certain the trade wont be that simple, otherwise it would already be done, probably a lot of cap shenanigans if not an other 3 way trade is in the work probably.

  11. Love your content bud, all the time, but someone disagreeing with you or challenging you on a theory that's unproven is not gaslighting. Let's save that word for the people who actually need it to describe problematic or abusive behaviour.

  12. He's going to Edmonton, they'll ask for Lavioe a 22 year old 6'4 winger, went 38th in 19'

  13. Giving his heart and soul to the CH? For Petry really? This guy would not do shit for his termites when they are hit in his face.

  14. I don't agree that he's still a top 4 defensemen. I think they could get a third if they retain more of his salary but he would likely get a better return if they waited until the deadline

  15. To put things in perspective, the only reason why Petry got a bit of criticism and negative press was due to his and his family's resistance over the imposed draconian lockdowns which were happening in Canada IMO. Nothing to do with the HABS organization.

Petry and his family can hardly be criticized merely because they embraced freedom.

Whether he stays or goes makes no difference to me.

HABS management will decide what is good for the team moving forward.

  16. Oh god, lots to unpack. You're probably right. He'll probably be traded. But believing that 2-3 days of silence doesn't guarantee a trade IS NOT gaslighting. They just aren't reading into it as much. And gaslighting is fucking serious. The definition is "manipulate (someone) using psychological methods into questioning their own sanity or powers of reasoning". Don't get me wrong, I love dramatic rhetoric, but geeeeez, slow your roll a little.

  17. Toronto could realistically make a good trade and it can work both ways, Habs get some picks maybe TJ Brodie and we get Petry

  18. I believe the two most likely destinations for Petry are the LA Kings or Anaheim Ducks. Both of these teams could use a right shot veteran defenseman. In a trade with LA, Montreal would have to pick up a roster player to help LA get under the cap. As for Anaheim, they are rebuilding, they have plenty of cap space. However, Anaheim would not be willing to give back a pick. It would either be a roster player or a prospect.

  19. Is a top 4 D-man only worth a 2nd or 3rd round pick? I thought a solid top-4 D-man would be worth more than a risky draft pick.

  20. This is a weird one. Just to throw a spanner in the works , he gets swapped for Hanafin.

  21. him and Allen and a 1st rnd pick are going to the leafs for Woll and Nylander.
The pick is top 5 potected

  22. This is the same dude that trash talked the habs organization the minute he was at Pittsburgh so yea…. Get ‘em out

  23. Petry and either Allen or Desmith for a veteran forward and a 3rd/4th round pick. Oilers, Flames, or Jets.

  24. Edmonton, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Washington and Detroit would be interesting fits. I see Tampa wanting to explore this given their need for an upgrade on the right side with not much cap space available
