Local podcasts in Phoenix describe Mesa as a rough area trying hard to be a slum. Might be a mistake to locate there, or… it could turn the area around, depending on what other developments, if any, are being considered. Like the signing of Martin Jones as Goaltending insurance by the Leafs. Flames have to extend Lindholm to help stem the tide of players wanting to head for the exit. I think Backlund has been overpaid, but seems he brings intangibles of good character and leadership, so give him a fair contract and the "C" to go with it.
I’d take Fantilli over Cooley for sure.
I lived in the Phoenix Metro Area for a couple years. A stadium in Scottsdale would be the best possible outcome for them and Mesa is a little hike from the people that have the money is the Sun Valley. I find it really strange that they cant find a parcel of land in Scottsdale. If the Phoenix area has one thing, its a buttload sprawling desert. Everywhere. I just dont know how they can not find somewhere around the North East Phoenix area.
I don’t see the habs going for Faksa except if Dallas is ready to add a significant piece with him. Why trade Petry with salary retention for another bad contract this doesn’t make any sense. I could see him go to Nashville.

Re: Coyotes: I think they've done a decent job in getting some talent to improve the team. Cooley is a solid prospect BUT Bedard is the top prospect and should get rookie of the year and Adam Fantilli will be in the mix for the award….that kid is a BEAST and he could be in the discussion at the end of the season.
Re: my beloved Habs….Faksa is still young enough but hasn't been doing much on the score sheet. He's certainly affordable at his current salary. Not sure what he adds to Les Habs though.
I don't think Petry and DeSmith will be in Montreal next season. There has been no press conference in Mtl with those 2 guys and after any significant trade, there always is one normally. 2nd, Kent Hughes has not talked to either players since the trade, not even a little welcome or hello. So to me, it's a given that both are only in transit in Mtl.
Love the channel! I live in Mesa, it is the largest suburb of greater Phx. Based on the previous statements of which parts of Mesa the Coyotes have been looking into, it makes total sense. Anywhere in the east valley makes so much more sense than way out in Glendale in the west valley. If they do go to fiesta mall or the reservation land in north mesa it’s only a few miles from Scottsdale. Land in Scottsdale is expensive and limited compared to mesa. It makes total sense, there is so much more money in the east valley, it is by far the best option to keep the yotes in AZ!
