Petry to Detroit?
Not sure how I feel about Rem leaving. I think it's overall a good trade. Jeff gets flipped before the season starts. We still need a power forward that can protect the smaller guys. The Atlantic division is getting physical. We need some, I don't want to say goons, what's a good term for a good forward who can dish out punishment? A mediator. I guess enforcer is the best.
PETRY will be traded and this trade will be a win.
Getting rid of Hoffman and receiving 2nd rounder is improving this team
Hoffman is actuality going to San Jose. This isn't horrible. Montreal retains 50% of the contact and they can flip to a contender for 2.5 mill.
Edit: Petry is still a valuable piece to a contender. The won't be a buyout with him. He'll be traded.

I wonder, and I'm just speculating here, if it has anything to do with Mailloux 🤔. They were supposed to meet with Betman at the end of July but, we haven't heard anything yet and with the scandal going on with the world Juniors maybe a verdict for Mailloux was pushed back thus creating the need for a No 1 right handed shot🤔🤔🤔 but it does seem very possible that they would just flip him too idk. Very interesting move anyway. Go Habs go!

This is a great trade. Primeau will go to waivers. Desmith will go to laval for only 600k a year. We freed Hoffmans contract. And we got petry with retrained salary. So now petry is a great asset for montreal to trade. It’s actually a great move by Kent Hugh’s.
primeau is not waiver exempt, that why we got desmith. just in case someone claims a goalie on waivers.

IMO Allen is out and Petry plays and traded to contender at deadline for picks/prospects. Same with Monahan. Also says that Mailloux is playing in Laval.
Montreal could get involved in this 3 team trade because they have cap space vs Pittsburg which had to let go several players and picks to find room for Karlsson. Now the question would be: Is HuGo going to trade Petry and DeSmith/Allen for picks or players to help the team right away???
Petry for Matheson…fantastic…losing Hoffman…amazing…getting an NHL goalie…nice…losing Pitlick…that's ok…getting Legare for the Rocket…another ok…a free 2nd round pick in 2025…unbelievable…and regaining Petry for less than half his salary, to be used as another pawn in HuGo's chessgame, perhaps leading to another Matheson-type trade…brilliant…that's a win-win-win-win-win-win-win trade with no downside.

We would have taken DeSmith and the 2nd round pick. Like rhat w wouldn't have a chance to be stick with Jeff Petry..
To trade Petry we wctually will need to use hum and hope he shows up on the ice so other teams might be interested.
