  1. he 100% deserved his 3 game suspension, but that isnt the point. its that everyone else who deserved it more did not get a 3 game suspension and if they do not follow this new standard they have set going forward the DOPS should be seen as a joke or have someone fired for not doing their job because at this point they really arent same with the atrocious reffing this season for all teams not even just toronto

  2. the only good about all this is that Cernak is out and Keefe found out he can't trust Bunting, hopefully, and wait until round two if they get there to play him.

  3. Bunting will likely be back, Knies will still be there when he messes up again.

  4. I like Bunting but I agree if the Leafs are winning without him, keep him out of the series. Think of it as his punishment (he is grounded think about what you did) Then yea if you want to start him in game 1 of the 2nd round go ahead and hopefully he learned his lesson.

  5. Yes. Bench him during the whole playoff run and get rid of him. He had ALL season the clean up his act and he hasnā€™t.

  6. If the leafs are winning without bunting, keep him out. Donā€™t mess with whatā€™s working

  7. Dubas looks like genius now signing knies and burning a year on his elc , if bunting wasn't on that top line what kind of season would he have had , he just cost himself millions but the leafs ARE going to win this series with or without him so he sits barring something unforeseen

  8. YUP. he plays into the Tampa mental side of their game where they feed off being jerks and goons. it works for them. they'll target someone else and get penalties

  9. Only Leafs (and maybe Canadiens) fans would be shocked/surprised that a guy that has a history of being a hot head and a cry baby would be suspended 3 games for an extremely DIRTY UNNECESSARY HIT.

  10. Bunting doesn't deserve to be in this league, let alone on this team. His emotional irresponsibility outweighs any benefits he brings to this team. I give no fucks about this player. He doesn't even deserve to be called a rat… he is a shrew.

  11. Well, you can't bring Bunting into a critical game, and I think while some games are more critical than others in the playoffs, all playoff games are critical. I think it's an excellent point that the suspensions handed out to Leaf players in the last decade or so are merited, but at the same time out of step with what players on other teams receive. Stepping outside the center of the hockey universe and looking at the shenanigans in the other series, penalty calls and player safety are completely capricious. Coaches, players and fans don't know what the standard is, and Adam's summation on that is spot on.

  12. Yes, he's proven that he cannot be trusted to control himself, which means he is a liability to them in the playoffs. He's been penalized by the league for his dirty hit, now he needs to be disciplined by the team to learn that his antics will not be tolerated. They can play him in the second round if they make it to see if he's learned his lesson.

  13. lets talk about pat maroon cross checking gio in the back of the head after he threw him to the ice by the head…. kadri and bunting in one play…

  14. Was definitely a penalty maybe 2 game max, but also some flop happening. The force was a penalty but the reaction was in fact a flop

  15. i think some rlly good points were made here. I think suspensions r pretty soft in this league, u get 1-2 games for rlly dangerous stuff! This was a fair suspension, yet we just havenā€™t seen a lot of those this season.

  16. I honestly wouldn't even play Bunting the rest of the playoffs. He's a liability with his anger issues and you can't afford that in the playoffs. If Keefe plays him for even one second after the suspension, they're most likely losing in the first round again and he'll be looking for a new job in the AHL in the offseason because he's clearly not NHL standard with a choice like that.

  17. I believe Bunting has played his last game in a Leaf uniform. By the end of the year, his production was way off and his well documented problems with the officials had him down in the line up. Not only was he unable to draw penalties, he was the one taking them. I don't think the organization has much faith in him anymore and as long as Knies plays smart, there is no room for Bunting.

  18. This is a serious year top to bottom. Adam and Steve said it perfect, Bunting betrayed Keefe. He ain't making the lineup this series.

  19. YES he should be scratched. And donā€™t re-sign him. Heā€™s not needed anymore. Plenty of other players who can play his role and not be a liability.

  20. Scratch him. This is the playoffs – the leafs can't afford the kind of penalties he pulls. He doesn't bring enough to the table to justify the risks.
