Tomas Tatar on his situation: “There was interest from multiple teams but the terms were a problem, I wanted at least 2 years. But in current salary cap situation 1 year seems more realistic. I’m pushing for things to settle asap”

Sort of what we had guessed around here. He wants some sort of last payday either by term or a one year more than a cheap veteran contract.

Sounds like he also doesn’t wanna go to a bottom feeder that will pay out.

I honestly think his playing time is worth more to Holtz’s or Foote’s development, even if he could put up better production it’s better for the team in the long run.

I’m kind of surprised GMs are only offering one or two years considering every other free agent is all about that “play until the salary cap bump” mentality.

I hope Tatar can find something. Even if he has a reputation for disappearing in the playoffs, there are so many teams whose relevancy relies on just making it to the post-season (like Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Seattle) that I’m surprised no one is biting.

If we were a bubble team I would want him back 100%, but since making the playoffs isn’t really a concern, he shouldn’t be back due to his playoff performance. A mid team just trying to make the playoffs (like the Canucks) should be all over him.
