Hearing UFA defenceman Caleb Jones is signing a one-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. A little over league minimum.

So rn, we have Coghlan and Jones jousting for #7. Pesce and/or Skiej for sure getting moved soon.

He’s not great offensively but he brings a decent amount of physicality to the table. That’ll come in handy on nights where we’re up against grittier teams. His reports make it sound like he has solid potential in our system, but he’ll likely spend most of his time on the bench or the bottom pairing

Obviously will be moving someone here soon but, really odd to pick up another 7th man when we don’t have an AHL team.

So many defensemen. Skjei/Pesce being moved is only a matter of time

Got to think both Skjei and Pesce are leaving.

Wtf are we planning on doing with all these D men?

I’m assuming we can find AHL teams that we can lend some guys to for depth purposes. We’ll have random stash houses across the country. I’m mainly just trying to keep hopes that we really like our group and figure out a way to make it work.

    Oh God we gonna run

    Slavin Burns

    Orlov TDA

    Chatty Jones

A slight downgrade from last year in my opinion on the blue line. Let’s see who we go for on the forward front.

I like the pairing of chatty and a more defensive third, but not crazy about our top six in terms of reliability.

  9. We were never going to re-sign both Skjei and Pesce but I still think we get a deal done with Brett. TDA was an upside signing, someone we can rely on if something happens to Burns. Cogs was signed for depth. Up until now, it’s been fairly reasonable signings and holding onto 8D is out there but 9D??? Someone’s getting traded and my bet is its gonna be Skjei. Coupling Pesce and Skjei would be cool but I don’t know how many teams would replace their entire 2nd pair, not ship out any defenseman(since we don’t need em), and have a forward worth acquiring that they can part ways with

Maybe I see the strategy here. Sign every defenseman there is so no one else has any defensemen and then we can score more.

Silly me was thinking that the answer was to sign a forward that can consistently score.
