He tells them how Steve broke the news to everyone, lays down some big hopes for the legacy of his side and asks the nation to believe in the boys in white.
England’s opening game against Argentina is only a month away, so The Telegraph’s Charlie Morgan pops by to give some insight into the starting 15 Borthwick might pick to face them. We have an age issue from 1 to 15. we look slow and lumbersum, still opting for southern hem players well past the sell by date, no centers of quality, not 1 world class player, we will lose to Wales, this is 1 world cut i wish we were'nt in. Marlor and Cole combind age better than a cricket score. we will be laughing stock. Oh lest i forget the manager is weak

It's all very well picking people who can play in different positions, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. You need specialist players in certain positions, outside centre being one. Henry Slade (when actually given the ball) is the most skilful, creative outside centre in England.
Not a fan of Genge dont think hes nearly good enough to ne in the English squad dont know why Borthwick keeps making him captain every time hes captain he looks like he aint got a clue and we get abouslouty hammerd we aint goona make it out of our group

Have to say, like Genge as a player but not as an international captain. I know he gets often ‘the shags’ but every time he’s captained we seem to get given a hiding. The mentality and steel and will to fight just ebbs away, unlike with Farrell.
I know Genge is quite approachable and matey with the young lads in camp, and it’ll be all ‘just don’t drop it next time yeah..’ and pats on the back .. I just think when Faz is captain and it’s the first choice players.. they don’t and won’t have handling errors out of, not so much fear, but sheer respect. You just don’t allow yourself to knock on, because last week some of them didn’t even look professional the amount of handling errors that went down.
Tindall is so uncomfortable when Ellis is talking about the Wales game.

I find this squad underwhelming in some areas. I think it probably doesnt help that the same names are being talked about. Billy V may be an excellent no. 8 but it's natural to want something different after so long. Zack Mercer 😭 what happened? It seems risk averse which is a bit boring tbh even if some will say its sensible. I want to risk a bit and I wouldn't blame them if they failed trying.

I think it's criminal that Caden Murley doesn't have a place in that squad, and I think it’s even more criminal that you barely mention him. I'd rather take an in form Murley who knocks the wind out of people, has great aerial ability and scores tries for fun than a Henry Arundell who hasn't played nowhere near as much. Henry has talent that’s raw without a shadow of a doubt, but he’s barely played which is even worse when you think the last prem match wasn’t for 4 months
As a Quins fan its a shame to see Dombrandt out of the squad, but on reflection he's not the kind of 8 England want him to be; he's not a crash ball forward but Id argue he's much smarter than that. Even so I would till take him because having one specialist 8 for me is a weakness yes Ludlum could play 8, so could Earl and Curry, but having Dombrandt or Mercer in there as a point of difference would've been interesting.
Tind's is enjoying tooooooo many lunches!

Totally switched off wanting to watch England play – I'm starting to want the opposition to win due to the lack of perceived effort, do they want to play for England? there is no engagement, and has got worst over the last couple of years. All I want is Ireland to get knocked out early, New Zealand is beaten by France winning the World Cup – with England at least trying to score by running towards the try line. Not a good side, to many over the hill players that seem they expect to play…. head in hands.
The English are a good honest group of players,but that’s about it,will struggle to get out of their group.

Sick of all the reference to 2003, like football the fact is it is shameful that England have won one world cup. England players and coaches and especially the RFU should be ashamed. The money and talent available can only mean it is due to lack of good coaching and attitude. 3 times runners up would indicate it is mental toughness.

As 'neutral' french fan, if England plays like game vs Wales, don't expect to go beyond pool games. Picking Farell up against Wales & may allowing him to be a part of WC squad is an absolute justice.
