If Quick can retire and he can do it right now, even with this trade happening I hope he does it and I hope it burns the kings. And I am a season-ticket member. I know it’s a business, but at this point, I don’t care I prefer they respect this player then how they are treating him after all these years.
During my current playthrough of Be a Pro on NHL 21, my character was drafted by Los Angeles 2nd overall behind Lafreniere. Quick started as the starting goalie. 3 seasons into my character's tenure, Robin Lehner became the starter. Two seasons after that, it was Korpisalo. And here we are, talking about Korpisalo becoming a King.
Oilers needed a defensive defenceman, and Ekholm plays that role. With Nurse and Bouchard becoming key contributors on offence, it felt like Barrie was becoming expendable. Hopefully he ends up on a team that could use a guy like him on the PP and the first pairing.
Nice to see some new trades, really hope that JVR gets traded out of Flyers so we can get a pick for him instead of nothing.
Kane and Terasenko to Rangers is the winners for me. Maier to Devils is a great add too, i really believe he will fit so good with Hughes and Hischier and so on.
I'm not that sure about the Ekholm trade at all for Oilers, i think Nashville got some really good pieces for him. Keep on doing videos Grav
heartbroken that the habs are not really doing anything or able to do much. Really was hoping we could get more picks this draft.
Quick has been terrible this year and in combination with Calvin Petersen for 10.8 $ million formed the worst tandem in the league. Pheonix Copley a 30 year old lifetime AHLer came in and was better than both of them. He is not very good.
Los Angeles has had a good season. their defensive play has been solid and they have given up 28.4 shots against per game, the fifth lowest average in the league. Their offense perked up with the addition of Fiala. they are 13th in shots taken (32.2) per game, tied with the Leafs and they are 11th in goals scored at 3.3 per game. Their goals against are a dreadful 3.39 goals against per game. They have given up five more goals than they have scored this year and their goaltending has been sinking them.
They have been capped out because among other things they are paying these two goalies 10.8 million a year to be terrible.
That's why LA had to trade for an average goalie. Average goaltending this year would have seen LA give up at least 20 fewer goals so far this season. They had to trade salary to make room and so the fact that Columbus would take Quick was a bonus. They lost five point eight million versus the cap without having to lose a player who was contributing in a positive fashion to the team.
Korpisalo will be better than Quick has been this year because the subset of players who have been worse than Quick is just so small. Better still he will be better than Copley. Again very low bar.
I don't have a lot of faith in Gavrikov and honestly I think Columbus wanted to dump him which is why this worked but maybe he adds to defensive depth in LA.
Columbus likewise doesn't want Quick and will try to trade him to some other desperate outfit like Seattle or maybe even the Flames or edmonton who need goaltending. Don't be fooled. Quick isnt your solution. He's in early retirement and just didnt tell anyone.
LA doesnt win a cup but with Korpisalo but they could win a series or two and definitely should make the playoffs now as they addressed their one gaping weakness. Good for them.
Not sure why you always shit on Columbus sure we are rebuilding team but the city of Columbus is a great place to live and some many great people live here.
Nashville is flipping everything. So far ekholm, Jeannot, Nino, and a couple lower picks into cal foot, Tyson berie, prospects from Tampa, Edmonton, and Philly along with a slew of picks. What happened. Yes we lost some big fan favorites but wow.
Did Columbus have multiple 1st round picks or could this essentially be Quick for Gavrikov, Korpisalo, and Conner Bedard?
Hronek and Gost have been traded. Hronek to the Canucks for a 2023 1st (can become a 2024 1st) and a 2023 2nd. Trade details for Gost haven't been revealed but he's going to the Hurricanes.
Kings disrespected quick. As I lifetime kings fan he deserved better from management
There is not a team in the west that stands a snowball's chance against any of the 5 or 6 top teams in the east.
Ekholm will be good for all the young guys going forward he’ll he can even give Nurse some pointers as well.

Wow–not kind words for CBJ. Great city, great fans, and in a couple years people are going to regret the not so kind words about the Jackets. Team is loading up to be really, really good in the not distant future. Low blow, and pretty uncool . . .
Quick will just have to wipe his tears with his 5.7 million. He’s been bad for a few years and could have just retired last summer as a king legend but he wanted one last pay check (don’t blame him) and this was the cost of it.
I’m assuming you meant Patrick Kane and not Evander Kane cause he definitely has worked out in Edmonton.
As sad as I am as a kings fan to see Quickie get traded. He wasn't planning on retiring this offseason and the kings at least wanted a player for him.

Bruins give Pastranak a new deal puts them over cap and then add Bertuzzi and although DET retains some of the cap this deff puts the Bruins over the cap but of course like most teams they have some LTIR cap to EXPLOIT.
The LA trade made zero sense a non contendeer grabbing a goalie on the way down ,,,pfft lol good job .
