Ottawa Senators To Take JAKE SANDERSON 5th Over JAMIE DRYSDALE? 2020 NHL Entry Draft Rumours & News

Today we’re referring to what Mark Seidel mentioned on a recent episode of the Brother Pod Podcast, wherein the NHL Entry Draft analyst highlights his belief that the Ottawa Senators are going to take Jake Sanderson 5th overall at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft ahead of Jamie Drysdale.

This rumour contradicts The Athletic’s Corey Pronman’s word, which indicates that the Sens would instead take Frölunda HC winger Lucas Raymond with the 5th overall pick instead.

We’ve discussed the 3rd overall pick as well, wherein the Ottawa Senators would most likely draft the remaining forward of either Quinton Byfield or Tim Stützle; whomever the LA Kings decide not to take after Alexis Lafrenière’s drafting to the New York Rangers.

  1. Yes I'd very much prefer Sanderson over Drysdale… also yes we have chabot wolanin at left. But Branstrom PREFERS to play off hand on the right side.

  2. The way Raymond is looking early on in the SHL I do think he's going in the Top 3. Which, if it happens, who falls: Byfield or Stutzle?

  3. This isn't the draft to take a D man with all the firepower up front – I wouldnt be shocked if Sanderson and Drysdale both fall to AT LEAST 8th

  4. Also ottawa doesnt need another LD they have chabot and brannstrom there y take another LD when u can pick up a much needed elite forward

  5. Possible on Byfield depends on L.A Drysdale maybe but its all depends on the best player available at the moment. wont be taking Sanderson have a feeling he might be taken around 10-15

  6. Nope. Next years draft is deep with defensive prospects, super deep. They’ll wait until then and get two great forwards this year. Pay two of them in 3 years and then pay our defensive stud the next year.

  7. I think the appeal of Sanderson is so that Brannstrom can play his preferred side (the right), but then you either have JBD or Lassi on the bottom pairing. I'd still prefer Raymond or Rossi depending on who we get at 3

  8. Hey Leggo,

Here is a crazy one for you…
In a crazy alternate universe is it possible that the Senators pick up both Drysdale and Sanderson?

  9. I believe Sanderson will be Ottawa's selection at 5, I've thought that the entire time. Wouldn't be my first choice but he seems like a he could be a very good defenseman. Definitely prefer Raymond

  10. Ottawa 5th to Vancouver for Thatcher Demko and Loui Eriksson and a 2022 3rd round pick

  11. Ok, first, Corey Pronman has no goddamn idea who the Ottawa Senators are going to pick at #5 in the upcoming draft. Even if you take his famous quote at face value as the gospel truth it’s a pretty darn empty statement. Maybe he’s not hearing other names because nobody really feels inclined to tell him anything. Funky Fresh Prince? Mark Seidel? Who are these people who are trying to haunt my dreams with all this “inside knowledge”? Far more plugged in people than them have no clue who the senators are going to take at five. I think there’s probably a good chance that the Ottawa Senators don’t know yet who they’re going to take a five. But let me get this straight. The deepest draft in a very long time. A draft for any of the top 10 players could be the first overall pick any given other year. In they are going to pick a guy who looks like he’s going to be a “really solid” defenseman? I’d say between the upper first round and all their second round picks, there’s a decent chance they could find themselves a “really solid” D there too. Maybe pick up someone at 5 who could maybe possibly be a difference maker?

Fine, so we’ve established that Drysdale is an inconsistent, disengaged, disinterested, lazy slug who only plays when he wants to. I’m still digesting this news which just came to me via this video. Couldn’t the senators benefit from another high-end difference maker on the forward lines?

I know Sanderson is a great defenseman, and I also happen to believe the senators could use a high end defenseman with a bit more physical bite than our current projected top four. But I think there’s other ways they could get that guy.

Please, somebody just hold this bloody draft and get it over with. Or shoot me. Please.

    Good video. 🙂

  12. Just watched highlights of Drysdale and all he did was skate with the puck without passing to anybody. Great skills.. but irritated watching minutes of the highlights

  13. why the heck does dorian love marginally skilled players like tkachuk and sanderson as a sens fan i really freakin hate this guy

  14. As a die hard sens fan.. I would be upset with this. I would much rather go with 2 forwards like Quinton Byfield or Tim Stutzle at No.3 and go for Marco Rossi or Lucas Raymond at No.5. Most of the fans would prefer Marco Rossi so there is that. At the end of the day, I would welcome anybody. They would have to prove my thoughts wrong.

  15. So a year later I would like to point out that Jake sanderson is really killing it and this pick has grown on me immensely
