Re: Petry…. despite my initial thinking he could end up in his backyard in Detroit or maybe Chicago….if those aren't options then Dallas or Minnesota certainly could use him. He's a solid veteran, he's a right handed "D", he can move the puck, and let's not forget… he's solid on the PP….he took over top unit PP duties in Montreal when Weber was injured and he performed well…I'm sure the Stars or Wild would LOVE having a guy like Petry anchoring the 2nd PP unit with the talent to anchor the top unit if needed.
Am I remembering that Colorado was the Rockies first? And Don Cherry was an early coach I believe.
Petry has a 15 team no trade list, All Western Conference team. Pretty sure the only Western Conference team not on it is Dallas, There's no freaking way he's waiving for Minnesota. Chris Johnston only mentioned Buffalo, Dallas and Detroit as teams of interest right now.
Kane screwed the Blackhawks. He openly whined about the Rangers acquiring Tarasenko but at the same time not allowing the Blackhawks to trade him yet. Then finally gave his ok but only to the Rangers. This greatly reduced what the Blackhawks return would be. Had he allowed the Hawks to trade him for the best return what’s the worst that would have happened? He has to live 2 1/2 months in another nice city. Cry me a river. BTW there were rumors Vegas was interested. It’s quite likely he would have won another Cup with them.

Washington is a team on the way down. Like Pittsburgh, Tampa, Boston, and the Islanders. I love that they're still pretending to be contenders and making big moves (or trying to). All that does is guarantee that when they fall they fall *HARD*, which will open up playoff spots for teams like Montreal, Ottawa, Detroit, and Buffalo. The league standings are going to look very different in 2-3 years!!!
